• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Place own model

How to add your own 3D model in FSX with MCX without removing default scenery.
For example, I add a house and trees and other houses disappear around.

I don't think this is possible. Any addition of of a new object will remove any default autogen that includes the new object's reference point.

Hi,

When you talk about houses and trees, do you mean the autogen of the scenery? If your model does not have the reference point in the center it can be that autogen is removed in quite a big area.

Hello:

While I agree with Arno on an inferred preference that the base of FS 3D models always be centered on ground at the Origin of Axes, why not

mention MCX Object Placement dialog has an option to choose a value of "True" for a "NoAutogenSuppression" parameter XML Element ? :scratchch

SDK SHP2VEC exclusion polygons are required to suppress Autogen annotations on custom photo-real land class textures, so SDK BGLComp XML placement of 3D models (whether default or custom) would not othewise impose AutogenSuppression for "custom" FS Autogen placement". ;)

If I overlooked something here with regard to SDK BGLComp XML placement of 3D models (whether default or custom), please correct me. :coffee:

Gary,

As far as I know 3D models do also suppress landclass autogen, unless they get the no autogen suppression attribute in their placement.

The terrain vector exclude can indeed be used to suppress the autogen in a bigger area, e.g. an entire airport.

Many thanks for that clarification, Arno. :)

Hmmm.... now to verify that my invisible, crashbox-less, shadow-less, exclusion 3D scenery objects work in Instant Scenery 3 (aka "IS3"). :scratchch
