• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi! Sorry for my English. I have mdl file my ground polygons (asphalt, beton, markings, touchdown and another) All in one file. I need place this polygons to P3D2. If i make it with model converter x, that options and instruments have i to use? Step by step please!

Arno made a good youtube video that explains the process of the Ground Polygon Wizard in ModelConverterX.
It is not the current version of the program, but the principle is still the same and explained step by step

There is also a tutorial Ground Polygon creation with Gmax here in the Wiki:
http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ground_polygon_creation_with_GMax

And there is a new tutorial also here in the Wiki thats called Ground Poly Tutorial for the year 2014+
http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ground_Poly_Tutorial_for_the_year_2014+

Enough ressources already available here at fsdeveloper.

Hope that helps
Jörg

Thanx! But i told about ground polygon for prepar3d v2. I know how place ground polygon for FSX with model converter x ground polygon wizard. But if i make it for prepar3d v2 this polygon work incorrectly. For example: polygons of my runway 3D lights not visible above runway polygon. Therefore i want know how place this polygons for prepar3d v2 only! I saw in another scenery that this polygons work correctly and my 3D lights polygons is visible above runway of another scenery.

I make my future perrons, taxiways and runway in Gmax. Export this from Gmax to mdl file with fsx_gamepack for Gmax. Open ready mdl file in model converter x and tunning material and transparency that i need. Re-export mdl file from model converter x to fsx mdl file. Open ground polygon wizard and place my polygons to FSX with FSX options and different layers for my polygons. In FSX all work good!

To P3D2...
I make my future perrons, taxiways and runway in Gmax. Export this from Gmax to mdl file with fsx_gamepack for Gmax. Open ready mdl file in model converter x and tunning material and transparency that i need, check No Z Write for polygons. Re-export mdl file from model converter x to P3D mdl file. Open ground polygon wizard and place my polygons to prepar3d with P3D options and different layers (zbias 0, -1, -2 etc.) for my polygons. In prepar3d polygons like good! Markings above runway, touchdown above markings... But my 3D light polygons not visible above runway polygon. 3D light polygons below runway. If i make all how for FSX and place for prepar3D v2 - 3D light polygon work is visible above runway polygon, but ground polygons will work incorrectly.

I know the problem, when you have a 3D light as an effect placed in Prepar3D. Is that the technique you are using for the lights?
We are currently trying to change the 3D light to 3D objects which should work in that context.
Couldn´t test it yet because I am preparing a release of a FSX version first but will do that later.

Have you solution of this problem? Can i make my ground polygon with "minus" zbias level and no z write today?

No I have no solution for your problem. If you already use the technique you mentioned, it should work.
If not, I have no further idea at the moment. Sorry

You said: "We are currently trying to change the 3D light to 3D objects which should work in that context"

Yes, but that is what you already do when you follow the tutorial of Austin.
I will do some tests after the release of my current FSX scenery and I can keep you informed, but it will take some more weeks.
