• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Polygon Tool & Object Placer

Hi,

1.I have been working on an airport which contains trees in side the boundaries. I used the polygon tool and added a land class to the airport, but the trees and water are not showing. Is this because the trees are inside the airports boundaries?

2.The second problem I have been having is with the Object Placer. I built a model using sketch up and I added it to a bgl file. The library manager allows me to place this building but it does not appear in flight sim.

Any help is appreciated!

The airport background poly is usually set to exclude autogen so you I think would need to exclude the default one and create another that does not cover the area for trees. Either that or include library object trees

Have you put the bgl file containing the objects and the related textures into an active folder in the flight sim?

If you are using photo-textures, landclass will not be displayed. You need to use Autogen Annotator.

How do I go about editing the background poly? Am I able to do this through ADE?

Where is the folder that I put this in? I was curious about this earlier because I wanted to know where to put my objects so they appear in the object placer tool from the SDK.

Unfortunately you can't see the stock airport background in ADE. However if the airport has a fence then that is a good indicator. Otherwise it is a guess unless you use TMF Viewer to establish where it is. George can probably help better here than me.

Use the Poly tool to create an approximate rectangle that cuts where you think the airport poly edge would be. In the dialog select Exclude General For the Type and Airport Backgrounds for the Tag. Compile it an make sure that the CVX Bgl file goes in the same active folder as the airport Bgl file. Run FS and see if the airport is now covered in autogen!.

Finally you create a new airport background to fit the area you want excluding the areas of land class.

Simplest is to put the Bgl file containing the object in Addon Scenery\scenery and any associated textures in Addon Scenery\texture.
