• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Pond Troubles

I have been doing a series of New Jersey Airports and Pennsylvania Airports, some of which have ponds on the premises. I am also using SBuilderX to do all the Airport Boundaries, excludes and any other poly's I need. . .in particular, the ponds.

In what seems to be every case, after the scenery is complete and saved, If I go to an airport that has a pond on it, no scenery objects (I use Instant Scenery) display. If I remove the bgl for the pond. All the objects return. Thus far it has only been those airports with a pond that exhibit this behavior. Does anyone have any idea why?

How did you configure the polygon for the pond? Did you use Hydro_Polygons_Default_Perennial for it?
To get closer to the problem I'd make another folder under /addon scenery/ and place the pond bgl in a folder on top (or beyond) of the scenery objects in the FSX scenedb to have them separated and priorized.
You also could save the project as SBX file, open it with a text editor and check the entries and their parameters.

Hi Mark, thanks for answering. Actually I use "Hydro_Generic_Lake_Perennial". All of my sceneries are outside of the main FSX Folder. I don't really use the FSX/Addon Scenery Folder at all. Every project I do starts out as an SBX File because I open it to change the image name and also to get the longitude and latitude settings for AFX so I can adjust the background image for laying in the parking ramps and taxiways.

Ok, this seems to be a dead thread with no answer to the original question, so let me ask it a different way. . . .

When you make a small pond on an airport and you are using an airport boundary generated in SBX (not a photoimage ground texture), what should that water area be tagged as?

It shouldn't be too hard to zip up some small files that illustrate the problem, and attach them to a post.
