• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Possible to rotate texture?

I am applying a texture to the roof of a hangar, but it's alignment is 90 degrees off what I was expecting. Is it possible to change the rotation of the texture without having to modify the texture file?
The strip in the middle should be running along the ridge of the roof.

Which software are you using? In Blender, you could just rotate the roofs UV Island by 90 degrees.

You are right, I didn't realize the category this was posted. Sorry. So you can just ignore my post, unfortunately I don't know anything about FSDS. Hope someone else can help you.

Best regards, Fabian

Changing the roof on the UV would change the position or placement locarion (u or x and v or y) on fhe texture. After the map has been created, there isn't a way for it to be modified/ changed unless it is recreated. That goes for any application, Blender, 3dMax, etc.

Yes, assuming the roof is a part by itself and not grouped to anything, select Transform, Rotate, select 'Axis only' and put 90 degrees in Y box. The texture will then apply based on the new axis direction.

Hello ; if you have many parts to texture, you will earn time if creating a new rotated texture file.
However, it's possible to modify the "cut" of your texture file: example wood with horizontal lines, and I need vertical lines
In FSDS (polygon mode) / part / texture / texture file properties: the default cut of your polygon appears (lower rectangle 1234 ) with 4 handles (active one is big black square).
Active each handle and move them to new green positions 1234 to get the final "cut" (as if you rotate red rectangle 1234).
!!! it's not allways easy to select handles ; sometimes it takes a long time to succeed in catching handles !!!
