• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

One I know can set an option in FSX to Preview Direct X10.
How is this done? there is no option like that in my version of FSX although I have a direct X 10 card

What video card do you have? Vista will say it has DX10 installed regardless of the type of video card you have, because Vista does have DX10 installed, you just can't use it unless you also have a compatible video card.

The preview DX10 checkbox should be on the Options | Settings | Display dialog.

Radion X1600 series with 1048 MB.
The sales man told me it supported DX 10, so hope so.
If not then he can get it back for a refund.

Should support it

The salesman lied :-> Only the ATI 2000 and 3000 series cards are DX10 compatible (the 3000 series are also DX10.1 compatible).

Maybe it will sound biased, but it's based on expirience.
If MSFS flight simulator is the only "game" you play then staying away from ATI and having a nice relationship with Nvidia means staying out of trouble.

I'm dealing quite a lot with building systems specifically devoted to nothing else but running MSFS for last seven years and this is my true, genuine expirience. I have possibility to borrow almost any hardware there is for a period of 7-10 days, so I'm in position to check almost any combination of hardware thoroughlly. My latest comparision was made 2 months ago with certain range of ATI cards against Nvidia's and results, even if expected, were still even more off than expected and were definitely in favour of Nvidia. With this statement I'm not trying to say, that ATI cards are bad piece of hardware, I even have information from some of my customers, that some other 3D games run better on ATI cards than on Nvidias, but that definitely is not the case with the MSFS, especially so with FS X. I never managed to discover why that is so, but paractice and real-life expirience shows, that is so. Maybe with tweaking of drivers on some expert level the situation of ATI against Nvidia could change, but that is something I'm not aware of at the moment.
