• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 primary AFCAD not showing up in sim

So this is a little hard to explain but let's see if I can put it into words.
I am in the process of creating an FS2004 version of an FSX airport, nothing I haven't done before.
I have loaded the ADE file (which contains ZERO FSX only elements) so it loads fine in ADE9.
Baring in mind this is the same file I used for the FSX and P3D versions and both work as expected, I compile the airport, copy the new files to the scenery folder needed, load up FS2004 and notice I am running on grass.
I removed the main GPs to be able to see the issue clearly and although all elements like taxiways, starts, hold shorts and taxiway designation are all there, no surfaces are drawn.
So yeah afcad surfaces are not in the ADE9 export.. maybe I don't know.
In FSX/P3D no problem but in FS2004 there are no surfaces generated for some reason.

So I wonder if it has to do with the fact that you can see the properties in or on a FSX P3D version of ADE. This was kinda just discussed over at AIG so here is the thread if you are a member https://www.alpha-india.net/forums/index.php?topic=31531.0 , otherwise here are the pictures that they used more or less..

First picture show the draw flags properties in FSX/P3D which you can select for taxiways and such. In ADE9 you can only select those on surface polygons..ie ramps or asphalt or whatever..

Second picture is in ADE9 of the default Biggin Hill and I can only change those as I just talked about above..

Maybe just start with a default one.. I know it will take longer to line everything up with the GP.. I am just a ADE9 user, so I can't speak too well for the FSX/P3d method..

Hope this is what you were trying to describe and maybe this will help. Looking forward to FS9 Biggin Hill too.. :)

Greg

It's difficult to understand why everything else gets exported except the generation of surfaces, no runway no aprons.
Ironically I am working on Biggin Hill haha
I have checked countless times the draw flags and all are checked in both ADE9 and ADEX. I have never had this issue it is actually making my head hurt.

Yeah I have been watching your Biggin Hill, so that's why I used that as the example.

So did you try an start with a default one and start over?

What about an elevation issue/flatten that I have had with numerous airports. I would try a flatten poly in ADE and see if that helps.

I have tried...
Standard compile, extended compile, generated a flatten, tried changing the altitude of the flatten, using an older version of ADE, changing all surfaces to cement, exporting the AFCAD through AFX, the airport is created from the default version anyway. I have even tried using the standard default version and popping that in, removed all exclusions. My head hurts haha.
I am going to put an invisible platform over the airport. I have had enough trying. Still need to get the issue resolved because the platform solution although it works I dont want to have to do it for every fs9 project in the future.

Weird.. no other Biggin Hill sceneries previously installed (UK2000 is the one I still have).. I know theses are silly questions, being as these are the ones you are usually asking when people have issues!
Well hope maybe someone else will chime in with a another idea..

Greg

Thanks Greg, yeah I've checked all possible problems including looking for other scenery and disabling things like UK2000 etc.
I'll get to the bottom of it, I'm to invested now haha

No luck as of yet, I'm just going to bypass the need by setting the terrain underneath to concrete haha. I'll focus on it properly after Christmas and let ya'll know
