• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Problem with Fuel Trucks and Jetways

Thank you so much for this excelent TOOL it's awsome!
I began to make a new and BIG airport (the new Lisbon airport that will be build soon) and i missed the correct position, i managed to have the right location and i had to move it to the new location. The Airport was almost done, only the buildings were not the final ones, i should make new buildings, so i had no problem to loose these buildings. I moved the airport to the new location using FSX Planner, i compiled the airport and opened it on ADE from the BGL. Everything seemed to be moved ok but then i noticed that the Jetways disapeared, no problem i add new ones, i compiled the airport and the problem begins:
1st i have no Jetways on FSX and in 2nd place when i call a fuel truck it says there are no fuel trucks available in this airport, but they are there, i can see these fuel trucks... quite strange. What should i do?

Welcome, CheckerPT

Seems that it is seldom a good idea to use more than one tool to build an airport. I'm not sure if you built the airport with FsX Planner, moved it, then tried to open it in ADE. Or started it in ADE then moved it with FsX Planner, then went back to ADE. Either way will cause trouble. ADE will move your Airport.

Like Bob posted, it is not a good idea to start with one airport design utility and then change to another utility. Each Airport utility can use the XML code differently based on FSX fallback code.

ADE does not use the fallback code and uses the SDK in its entirity. If FSXP is coding the Jetways as False and requires the root APXnnnn.bgl to display the Jetways then ADE comes along and says Jetways are True (no fallback). This blocks the Jetways from showing since you opened your FSXP airport from the bgl using ADE. ADE by default is blocking the fallback statement that FSXP is using thus no more jetways showing at your airport.

The fix? Use ADE from the very beginning and always open a Stock Airport. Save your Airport project as a .ade type file. ADE does not work with the XML or the BGL like everyone else. Always open your airport project using the saved .ade file.

You have more problems then what you can see. The Jetways missing is just one issue that is a visual that you can spot very quickly.

Just because you can see a Fuel Truck does not mean it is part of the vehicle path network. Using the call command will say no Fuel Truck available until it gets tied to the parking spot/taxiway network.

The other possibility is a user defined exclude for library objects covering the airport. As we know there is a bug that means such an exclude can knock out the jetways as well. The only way to be sure would be to look at the ADE project file. Failing that the bgl file

Thank you for your help, i started the project using ADE, as i told on my post i had buildings and using FSX Planner would lose these buildings and i still have the old .ADE file i saved it for precaution. The reason i used FSXP is that i don't know how to move the location of the airoport using ADE, so i had to solve it, can you help me move my airport to the new location with ADE?

If this is a new airport that you are building then why the need to move it. You start with the correct location and build from the ground up. If you have the airport almost finished and decided it need to be moved then drag everything you placed to the new location.

If this is an existing airport that FSX made and you are enhancing it then please list the ICAO airport code so we can also look at it. Moving an existing airport maybe a easy task for some utility's but there are hidden problems that must be resolved.

Have you read my first post?
I began to make a new and BIG airport...
BIG means BIG so to start again would be very painful.
At first i had the wrong location but now i have the real location so i need to move it there. How would you move everything by dragging? Dragging Paths ? One by one? It's almost the same as making a new one and it's a LOT of work down the drain, i need to move the WHOLE airport and i can't drag it all together... take a look!

I could see what you were wondering right away (been there, done that). Unfortunately at this point there is no way to move multiple elements together, so you are kind of stuck.

Yes I did read your 1st post. For me it was a little confusing pertaining to, did you build this airport with a new ARP or use an existing airport ARP.

ADE has a planned rubberband technique to move everything at once. It will be in a later version. Unlike AFX or FSXP we will also move everything. You can use FSXP to move a group of lines but no utility will move all the scenery you added. You still have to drag those which ADE will also address.

I do not see any Vehicle 5M parking spots that Fuel Trucks must have. That is not to say they do not exist but the screen shot is zoomed out too far.

I do see a Fuel Parking Spot (light blue color) which has nothing to do with a Fuel Truck but is for a Fuel refueling station.

You can use FSXP to move the airport and then save the FSXP as a XML. You then edit the XML and condition it as per the SDK and then open ADE using that XML. It is time consuming and you have to know what the SDK requires. We cannot out guess what other Utility's do.

Many of us have been in your situation over the last 7 years. At times I have bulldozed all my work such as KDEN, KATL, KMIA, EHAM (test radius of 8000 Meters) and started over in order to get it correct. Those airports are much larger then what you are designing and KATL has over 300 parking spots.

ADE will have an airport move function in a later version. Now that we can correct approaches visually any problems that are caused with them when moving an airport should be easier to deal with.

Thank you all for the precious help, i could solve the problem deleting all the exclusions and place them again, now i have the Jetways visible and working. About the Vehicle parking you can not see them on the picture, but there are 8 on the airport for now, as they are so small it's impossible to see them, anyway i manage to put them working again as it was before i moved the airport, deleting some vehicle paths and placing again, and seems to be working ok again.
This is not my first airport but i never tried to move any one before, so i had no problems with the other airports.
I will test now all the resources, in this airport to be sure that all is working fine.
By the way, this airport DOES NOT EXIST anywere, and it's not based on any existing airport, the airport is only on paper for the moment and i think they will begin the construction during next year maybe. This airport will replace the existing Lisbon airport or maybe Lisbon airport will be the second airport. They didn't decide yet the destiny of the actual Lisbon Aiport.
The runways of the new airport are around 4.800 mt long, so you can imagine the size of the airport. The Gates and parking places are not finished yet, there are missing more then the double parking and gates.
About moving airports, this is will be a great tool, but now this is on the right place, i will not move it again, i hope :)
Thank you again for the help, without your help i would take a lot of time to solve this problem and would lose a lot of time.
Thanks
