• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Problems compiling lines with loft

Hello
I have realized as 130 lines, I added loft. when I compile, I get several warnings (Node or Default field name 13 Begins with a number. It wiill be exported as x13 default for you)
when compiling with the MakeMDL_SDK takes half an hour, finally fails.

I've put only 20 lines including the loft, (test) I still errors out warnings to pass the file x,.
After the MakeMDL_SDK, I take six minutes to compile, I say done,

In the simulator only displays five lines of 20.
Any ideas?
I leave a video

About the warnings I think it's no important, I have got those warnings before, could be related with the texture name or the materials right now I dont remember, by default Max assign a number to any new material with a number and to export 3d max don't like, the fact the missing polygon could be they are flipped,?? or have you checked the object in Modelconvertex could be your terrain is not flatten, and prevent you from see all the lines, or could be the planets are not aligned, who know ¡

The error you are seeing is related the the Material's name. Simply Open the Material Editor and change the name!

My main problem is not that.
Problem 1: The makemdl gives error when trying to compile more than 20 lines,
Problem 2: To compile 20 lines takes about ten minutes.
2 the most serious problem: I have twenty lines (presumably in the bgl), will not let me see more than five in the simulator.

To try something ... delete the lines ... the loft converted it to editable poly. Everything remains the same.
In verification, the aces tools I get the following information.

Please, any way to make lines (taxiway) effectively? give no errors in the MakeMDL_SDK

I will try to follow the tutorial for lofts and taxiways, and see whay happen, please, I must ask you again what Fs version you are working on, when posting a question you can specify this issue in the title box.

For the "Multiple Root Nodes" error, make one of them the top level node, and Link the rest to the top level node...

Better still, convert all of them to e-poly then Attach them all into one single object.

All right, thanks, ah that make the difference, anyway I follow the tutorial, and could be exported to a .x file which a converted to mdl with Xtomdl, which is the compiler of fsx. don't know what could be the difference with Fs2004. sorry but I know it can't be of much help.
Must be a problem with the exporter, because the geometry and the process is not a problem.

He is trying to follow the tutorial "taxiline creation with Gmax".from Jeffrey Stahli, is here in the wiki, but I just say I have not that chaos in the exportation,
I made splines , one for shape and the other the taxilines, which will be the path, no problem at all, but I have Fsx. and Xtomdl.

I have the plugin, aces tools in the menu of 3ds 9.
I know there is another plugin that you created in the menu, a utility called fs tools
Maybe get a better result.
Do you know where I can find?

you only need "Aces tools", it's what should be in your menu, and Aces Documentation, Fs tools are those which are in the inside menu tools of Fs,like object placement, or traffic explorer. You must work with Aces tools that's all you need.
You could try to attach your file here in fsdeveloper to see if there is some problem with the object itself. the scene file before be exported, not the x file.

What I get "Node or material name 01.Defaults begin with a number, it will be exported as X01_Default for you."
I have to close max as I could. impossible to export.
I convert the file to 3ds and give an error about the .bmp too. this say that was wrong and would change the name. I think it's the dos format for the names, too long or something so.

Hi Tapi, well all this make sense a little now, I tried to export the airport, I renamed three or four materials name which were default, and could export, with only three warnings tellling me that three objects were textured but without UVmap, but could export.
Once exported tried to convert to Mdl with Fsx XtoMdl comipler, and this was the output (see the attached picture) I get a Mdl with 0 Kb
By the way, great work you did in that airport
Don't know where the problem is, could be the lofting method is not good enough for making taxiways :(

The solution was as follows.
parametrosloft.jpg

to Shape Steps to 0. not abuse of Path steps.
I do not know if I should have taken into account this, I just did not know.
The solution was offered by Jordi, which I thank him for his advice.
and all those who showed interest.

PS: There are still more questions and problems, on other subjects, that I will have to publish.

Good news hear you have fixed the issue, you had invested too much work there to lost the work, sure will be of help to other, even myself :duck:
