• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Problems Galor with Windows 7

I just installed FSX into a clean install of Windows 7. When I started up FSX I turned off the Music, next I chose an aircraft and the only sound I got was the aircraft tire sounds. No engines, no atc or tower. I played around and got my sound but now the aircraft is acting like a clown with no aileron control or rudder control. I'm using a Saitek Joystick and CH for the Rudder. I downloaded SP1, Directx SDK and noticed I am now using directx 11. I also downloaded the unpaid version of fsuipc4 and got into Moduals.

I'm looking for some help installing FSX into Windows 7 and whatever else I would need. "VISTA was so easy in comparison".

I haven't even started on rebuilding my airports yet, let alone trying to fly from one. Thank you for any help: Frank!

No, all that means is the you have the ability to use DX11.

Win7 will automatically load and use DX9, DX10 or DX11 as the application demands.

New install FSX on an unfamilar OS? I don't think I would turn off, add or delete anything until I knew the RTM worked. What did you do to get sound back? Any sound driver conflicts? What? on a fresh OS? My wife just bought a new laptop. The camera doesn't work well. Customer support told her the reinstall the OS.

FSX works better with both SPs. I know, I know, you can't use your old FS9 props very well. Worth it to me to have a better running sim. You shouldn't have to add anything DirectX or .net(pretty sure).

There is a program I use to play Music which controlled the main sound. A little tweaking fixed it for now.

I have my doubts that FSX can handle Directx 11. I noticed a few posts that some were removing Directx 11 and installing Directx 9.

DX11 is backwards compatible, it will emulate both DX9 and DX10.

There is absolutely NO NEED to remove DX11. Those folks who're doing so are setting themselve up for future problems.

There should also not be any doubts about FSX either. Of course it won't handle DX11, that is why DX9 will automatically be selected for use, providing that Win7 is properly configured to enable the Direct3D 9 compatibility mode.

Direct3D 11 runtime will introduce Direct3D 9, 10, and 10.1 "feature levels", compatibility modes which only allow the use of hardware features defined in the specified version of Direct3D.

I had a nice flight this morning in a cessna except I had to fly it like a WW 1Camel. Power on, Power off. (My throttle doesn't work). :p Saitek Drivers are for Windows 7 but X45 hasen't realize it yet.
There is something missing and I can't remember what. Something to do with ...............02 must have, update to...........03. Gotto search for whatever it is. Frank!

Of course I might get beat-down for these comments, but...

I have stuck with Win98SE until it was no longer supported by Microsoft. Then I went to WinXP Pro, and will continue to do so until it is no longer supported. Why? Because everytime Microsoft "improves" their operating systems it seems to cause more and more problems. At least until the second or third service pack.

Vista was a beautiful looking OS but had many issues for which I'm glad to have never dealt with...

I had heard Win7 was going to be pretty like Vista but as compatible as WinXP... guess not.

FLOTOCKI... I hope you can resolve all your issues soon and continue to enjoy your FS and developement ventures. As for me... I'll resist change for as long as I can whilst I watch and listen for the "fixes" people like you come up with.

Yes, but do you still have your 98SE machine, like I do.

I've still got a DOS v3.1 machine with PCBoard still installed!

I've also got a Win95, a Win98 (laptop), and a WinXP machines too...

I had a nice flight to-day with the Piper Cub but still had to use the keyboard to throttle. Sound is okay,

Do I need the expansion "Acceleration" pack? I don't use multiplayer. I like to fly low and slow.

If I don't need it I'll start re-building my airports and Ai Traffic. Frank!

Acceleration has SP2, some planes, and some scenery. It's up to you.

3.1 and W95 machines died. 98 still going strong.

As the Wiki says, make sure you have the SDK matches the version of FSX that you have.

It also says that after installation of the SDK, at first run of FSX you will be asked to trust the SDK. Sounds like you were not asked that, so FSX will not use the SDK. You need to get the SDKs into the cfg. You may need to uninstall the SDK, clear the registry, and reinstall.

Bob

Thanks Bobbyjack. I'll give it another try. Frank!

Replaced the Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 (7.0) and still no tools or SDK reference in trusted FSX.cfg
