• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Projected Mesh not using PBR material

You have to flip the textures vertically in Gimp before exporting them. I managed to have ground texture texts showing the right way with that method. Hover for now I cannot still figure out how to pick a specific set of letters let's say in the middle of a texture. So I had to place individuals numbers on their own textures each for my gate numbers.
Yh i guess we will have to manage like that for now,Kinda what we had to do with the PPlibrary in Xplane but then again WED is much easier to use

Actually if you create a line for example and double click it in the scenery editor it takes you into an orthographic view over the line, you can do this for any object. After that just move around normally with the camera. And yes i do agree its much easier to create these things in 3ds,I looked at your object and evn though it had no texture there was no reason it shouldnt have worked in the sim when exported
It does take into top down view, but not orthographic, it’s remains a perspective view which indeed has some distortion. My flat object was a tire skid, I wanted to place it over my runway in Tivat.

Yh Sadly you cant place a projected mesh over the apron or runway .If you are looking for a tire skid consider using the Tire gum texture found under runway in the material editor it might be able to give you what you need

I would like to know if it is possible the following.

I got a ground poly in Blender. Setup as Draw Order: 0
then a Border Asphalt: Draw Order: 1
then finally a taxiway line: Draw Order: 2

and the taxiway line wont show up at all.
Anything else i should do??

With the new SDK 0.6, we can place projected meshes above runways , taxiways, aprons, etc.
Also we can add PBR textures on the polygons.

do you save the ground polys in the texture folder and create a new folder for the model, just like you do with a 3d model? or what does the folder layout look like?
Thanks!

Yes I save the textures on the 3ds max project and then I copy the gltf and textures from the model folder to a scenery package project.

The PBR used for projected mesh is like on 3D models (metallic, rougnes and AO)? Or like in materials (normal, metallic, rough es)??

Yes, you have to use the "Base Color" Texture and the "ORM" (Occlusion / Roughness / Metallic) Texture maps on your material properties.

Looks good, how did you get this working without the washed out default asphalt texture over it?
I just created a ground layout for my scenery and was able to add it as a projected mesh but there's a default texture all over it which makes it look very bad.

I have tried using different material types on the projected mesh than asphalt but it doesn't change anything. Also I tried different materials in blender nothing changed...

I really have no idea how to get my groundlayout in otherwise...

Have you tried changing the priority of the Projected Mesh? There are several options, from Apron to Markings. Try each one, if you haven't already?

Hi all,

Someone can confirm Projected Mesh can't displayed over appron ? They dont work for me, i had to use appron like this :

Hi all, i am trying to use a projectedmesh with albedo 90% opacity and comp 100% , i need it mixed with asphalt but nothing roughness appear :(, i tryed using comp with alpha or not but i think the problem is opacity on albedo texture, is there a possible solution?

Guys is there any way to turn of the surface type? My PM have a detail pattern all over.
