• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Qgis creating shapefiles

I have playing with Qgis to get shapefiles for the area I'm working, I get working shapefiles. but in the scenproc the output is half the elements, 48 out of 90 I draw, and from this half, I can see only 1/3 of the buildings (I hope someone undestand this poor english ).
I Could understand that because the way to draw the polygons (by hand), they are not square exactly, many of them wouldn't be appropriate for agn file (could be?). But the other issue, fsx preventing from display all of the agn files is something I see difficult to fight. I've seen something similar before, placing agn files that not appear setting the autogen to max. even.
By the way Qgis could be very interesting to créate vegetation from kml files.

Hi,

I think it depends on the scenproc configuration mainly. Does the event log also tell you that only half of the features are turned into autogen?

I have checked the things properly. I have 68 ítems in the Qgis file (shape file), I applied the filters: FNUMPERPANG and FNUMNOTPAR, the first for the number of 90 degres angles and the second for edges not parallel, I thouht could be of help and yes, get ten ítems more , so I have 58 ítem right now out of 68. ten are lost , but not too bad after all.
And what worry me above all is if Fsx is preventing the autogen in the área I'm working on from to show properly. could be because of the density of the population. ?¡¡

Yes, the filter you apply will influence how many objects are used to create the autogen. But in the event log you will always see how many are actually created.

Most likely it is some other bgl file that is suppressing the autogen in your area.

According to the filtering process thery are:
42; 4; and 12. from the filters: Ftype=polygon, FNUMNOTPAR and FNUMPERPANG in this order. in total=58, out of 68, according to the Id counter from Qgis.
I thought of some bgl making troubles, but the same thing happen in another town area next to this one, i can't add more agn files. they will not show.
Anyway, as a thought I've been looking this things in Qgis and this tool can be very usefull for Fsx.

Also be aware that if you progress overlapping areas objects might get lost if you overwrite an existing agn file.

It's not the case here, As a couriosity I had an osm file for the same town, but of no use because it contain a Little few buidlings. it's because I take the chance to work with Qgis. I processed this file with Scenproc and a lot of Agn files were produced just for this town. Using this Qgis shape files I have only two agn files. just anecdotic.
Edit: At least I know there is not problem with the zone, I made another .agn file with annotator, and they show properly, don't like annotator because one have very few control on the output, those weird buildings ¡
Edit:more to update, walking back the road, I think I know why in the other village the autogen not show. the bounding box (see the pic), how I can fix this ?

I have thought that when applying this filters FNUMPERPANG and FNUMNOTPAR. those shapefiles that are normalized, I mean are perfect squares or rectagles could be discarded or excluded ? should be another filter for this be added.

That should be possible indeed. Be aware that a perfect square in geodetic coordinates will not be a square when converted to metres. For those attributes the feature is converted to metres first.
