• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi there,

Firstly thank you Russel very much for a wonderful program FSPlanner which was badly needed to follow up Afgad.

I have just completed updating my home default airport with FSPlanner and it looks great, the only thing that is missing is a little bit of moving ground traffic e.g. tankers ,caterers etc. I am not too fussy about automatic attendence when a plane lands. I would just like to be able to have some continual movement at the airport between points A and B, C and D etc. if this is possable.

Many thanks for your help in anticipation.

I'm not an expert in this area, so I'm, not sure how to get continual traffic. If you haven't already, I'd make sure there was a properly constructed vehicle path system though.

I'm sure some other people on this board with more expertise in this area can provide more insight.

Re: Ground Traffic at Airport

Hi there,

I may have been as clear as I should have been in my previous post as to what I am looking for so I will try to outline better and with a bit of luck I might get some response !

Many thanks for your reply Russell but I am afraid that I do not understand what you mean when you say "Properly constructed vehicle path system", how is this constructed ? and when it is constructed how do you get ground vehicles to use it ?

As you have said in your reply perhaps there might be some kind person who could guide me on this. What I am trying to have is some bit of ground traffic movement at my airport of any sort as without it the only movement I have is from AI traffic and it feels a bit empty.

Many thanks in anticipation.

In order to have Animated Ground Vehicles that travel between parking spots you first have to have Parking Spots coded as GATE and CARGO.

Animated Ground Vehicles is based on a proportion of those type Parking Spots. The more GATE and CARGO type Spots the more Ground Traffic you will see.

Many small GA Local airports will not have this type animation because there are no GATE/CARGO spots unless you add some.

Once the animated vehicles start traveling around the airport they will travel on Taxi path Lines. The objective is to build a vehicle path network simular to a taxiway network so the animated vehicles travel on their own roads.

You can add Fuel Trucks to any airport that will travel to each type plane which includes both AI and User.

Re: Ground Traffic at Airport

Many thanks for your reply Jim.

Could you tell me is there any difference between building a vehicle path network and a taxiway network ? If so what is the difference in creating it.Also could you explain "...any plane which includes both AI and User"

Thanks in anticipation.

There is an example of a Vehicle Path in KLGA

Hi

There is an example of a Vehicle Path in KLGA which comes
with FSXPlanner

AI Planes, Scenery generated planes that fly from one airport to another airport

User Plane, The plane that you fly

Regarding the fuel truck, I know there's a few different (two?) fuel trucks that can be placed as scenery. But only the one that shows up as the one that drives around and refuels aircraft. Has anyone come up with a way to force another fuel truck version to be the "active" fuel truck? Like the military one. Or is it just one of those things we have to live with.

There are several different type Fuel Trucks that come to the airplanes. However they are Region Specific. The Fuel truck used for the USA is not the same type used for the Europe Countries. This also includes some of the animated vehicles that visit each parking spot.

There is a XML that uses a list of vehicles based on what part of the World you are in. That list is editable and you can substitude different type vehicles including the Fuel Trucks used if they are part of the Living World Animation and not just a static type vehicle.
