In FSX with DX10 I have at many default airports flickering centrelines on the taxiways and the area where taxiway is connected to the runway, the runway surface is also flickering.
ACE Studio made people believe that this is a problem of video card drivers. But Nvidia and ATI cards have the same problem and some airports (KBOS) don´t have the problem.
I reworked some default airports and only changed the default taxiways, aprons and runway from concrete to asphalt. After compiling with FSX Planner intersection between runways and taxiway and taxiway centrelines are without flickering.
An airport has sometimes more than 1000 objects which I have to change to get rid of the flickering. Each object needs 3 mouse clicks to change from concrete to asphalt. This is a boring and long lasting job.
I tried to solve the problem with the help of FSX Planner. After opening the default airport I stored the xml file. Than I opened the xml file with an editor and replaced the word “CONCRET” through “ASPHALT”. After this I opened the xml file with FSX Planner and compiled it. The result was that the surface was changed to asphalt but the flickering centrelines and flickering areas where taxiway and runway intersect where still remaining.
I tried to compare the xml file which I got when I changed each object by hand and the xml file where I changed the surface by replacing the word “CONCRETE” Through “ASPHALT” but I could not find a difference between both.
Does anybody know what happened? Does FSX Planner makes something in the background when compiling to bgl which I can´t see in the xml file?
Is there a way to rework my default airports, to remove the flickering without mouse clicking each object and selecting the new surface?
Thanks in advance for you help.
Best regards
Stefan
