• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Repaint problem

Not sure where to go, so I'll post it here.

I have made my first fsx repaint out of 32bit bmp files, but every time I edit and replace the texture, it is covered in chrome tiles that only disappear when I zoom in. Why does this happen, it's fine before edit, but not after.

Also, creating a repaint of the cs 757 won't work for me, even before I start the plane is completely black in fsx, I can't even get the textures to work before the edit, without changing anything.

Can someone help me please?

Well, you haven't given us much to go on. However here is an outline.

Open your original texture (let's say an FSX 737, which is in DDS DXT5 format) with a program like DXTBmp.

Send it to whatever software you are going to modify it with (Paint, Gimp, PS).

Do your modifications.

Send it back to DXTBmp.

Save it as the same format as the original (in the case of the above 737, DSS DXT5).

Create a new texture folder for the new textures and modify the aircraft cfg.

Default FSX textures are upside down, by the way.

New textures must be labeled the same as the original so that the model can find them.

Good luck

Ok, it seems the textures weren't converted to dxt5. But I'm trying to use the CS 757 paint kit, and I get 4 files, and each of which is completely transparent in PS, whats up with this?

Well, I'm a very poor simmer. Can't afford PS ( or Captain Sim). Perhaps you could try opening them in Paint or Gimp to see if they work. If so than it has something to do with how PS is opening things. There should be instructions with the paint kit. There are many folks who know PS. Maybe one of them will help out. If this is your first repaint, perhaps you should try something simple, like a freeware AI paint kit, just to get your feet wet.
