Resample tool does not work!

Hi,

I'm trying to learn how to create custom terrain textures and have followed the examples in the FSX SDK Resample Tool section. It says to drag the MillenniumImage.inf file over the resample tool icon to compile which I do however I just get a flash of a black window and then nothing.

I've looked at other similar posts on this forum but even they can get the examples to work so I have no idea why it doesn't work for me.

As far as I know I have installed the SDK correctly, I even managed to get the tools menu to show up in-game after much research and hair-pulling.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thankyou

You could try this to hold the black window open long enough to read the error:

-Right click the Resample Examples folder while holding the shift key down, choose open a command window here
-Right click the black window and "paste" the line below, press Enter

..\resample MillenniumImage.inf

Hi Jim,

Thanks so much for answering my post, I tried your suggestion and I got the black window to stay open, Hurrah!!!
I'm guessing that typing ..\resample MillenniumImage.inf is the command prompt method to execute the resample tool?
Anyway this is what it said;

I'm sorry for my ignorance and inexperience but I have no idea what this means, unable to open
output file? has it even created one yet?

That is caused by UAC protection of the Program Files (x86) folder, UAC won't let resample write a .bgl into the folder. Try making a new folder somewhere outside of Program Files (x86) and then copy the entire Terrain SDK folder into it. In the copied folder open up the "Resample Examples" folder and try the command again, it should then write the .bgl into the "Output" folder as expected.
