• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ring Piece For Perfect SBuilder 9 Coast Lines

Roger that Mark...

I removed that header field... hopefully SBx now happy...
Also should go from SB to Google now as well... ie SBX to KML

Been playing a lot, so hopefully didn't break more than I fixed :)

Its coming along slowly...

This will probably be the last version here because the stuff I'm playing with now will make the size jump drastically next version... will need a site...

@ ctd:

appending the SBX's to projects works fine now! Ringpiece really has become a nice and handy little tool.

I have the impression that it reduces the vertices that are in my raw GoogleEarth line (even though the smooth option is not ticked), can you confirm this?

Cheers, and thanks for you efforts,
Mark

Whew it works... the other guy said his PC exploded :rotfl:

Yes... if you look in the ReadMe... it has more info

I think you should find the points on the line are around 30 meters apart... I havn't actually measured it... I'm stopping SB from falling over... whole story in ReadMe...

In a later version I might make that adjustable but this next part will take some time... and then of course I might meet a hot blond and forget all about you guys... FS who... ;)

Hey,

it actually is as good as it is. This is a really nice front end for SBX when working with GE. And, one also can add vertices with the smooth option in SBX.

Now, will anybody convince a hot blonde to do "business" with that guy only after he puts this aforementioned function in Ringpiece ;-) ;-) ???

Cheerio,
Mark

Having lived a long time in both continents I must say I never got "commatized", I could use it but found it unnatural. I prefer decimal dot for decimal digits, after all that's why it is called "Decimal" :-) but well, Europe chose that way (and the English chose to drive on the wrong side LOL).

The actual problem is something most programmers neglect regardless of whether they are americans or europeans: internationalization, be ready to output the value in the correct format and read it accordingly. Thanks God we don't see here the "I am a programmer so everything I do is right" attitude.

On the other hand one thing I NEVER got used to in the "american" format (I am from latinamerica) is the Month-Day instead of Day-Month date notation. It is so darn confusing and ambiguous if both parts are less than 12.

Will check this tool out! thanks! eh... any confirmation as to whether this works in SBuilderX? I no longer do FS9 sceneries.

Eh, just tried a KML file from the latest GE and Ring Piece got pissed off and crashed :-( I think it doesn't like the new KML format (reason why FSX KML also stopped working).

Any chance this tool will get updated?

Hello:

Heads Up ! :alert:

"There's an apparent workaround for FSX scenery projects to be made with 'new' versions of Google Earth (aka "GE") KML when subsequently processed via FSX-KML or RingPiece etc. to generate SHP or SBX output files.

FYI: FSX-KML or RingPiece etc. expect KML data in the 'original' GE KML format; certain changes have been made in the 'new' GE KML format.
