• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ruler / Mesurment tool

Hi,

It would be nice to have a mesurment tool or something to take mesures

(Am placing 3D aprons lights... it's a precision work and I need to place a ruler on my screen every time)

It would be nice to have something like: You have a 1 mile line and you can insert a Dot at every 10 Meters.
(If you understaind)

It should be very nice!
Thank you very much
Keven

Measurement Tool

Hi supercar1000:

In response to your query regarding a device to provide accurate measurements (and until Russell can check it off his to-do-list), take a look at the following in our archive:

http://www.scenery.org/design_utilities_d.htm

Meazure v2.0 - is a (Donationware) screen measuring utility that can measure using a number of units including pixels, points, twips, centimeters, or user-defined. "I used number of pixels equals number of feet. You grab the scale thing in the corner of the Terraserver sat image, tell Meazure that it took x amount of pixels to represent x feet. And presto you can now measure the size of buildings, taxiways, etc in all those sat-images. If you're missing the scale bar, find a known object calibrate off it. I'd used a Cessna 172's wing span of ~36' and got very close to what I'd expected to find." - Tachyon

That's cool bue I don't have the money to buy it (I'm 15 years old and my parents don't like internet shoping...)

Hi,

Some years ago, I was beta tester for Pascal Meziat's airport program (for fs4 the, FSW95 and FS2000).
He made a very simple option : al line of objects, any object, drawn with a distance beetwen each object. That's very usefull for what is aked here...

That's really two different features if you ask me:
1) a "measuring tool" like the pink line in AFCAD, and
2) a "line of objects tool" as was in Airport.
