• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello,

One of our projects is close to completion now however I'm looking for anyone that would be able to do runway, taxiway lights and papi on top of a custom poly layer for a medium size airport.

You will be paid for your work, please contact me to discuss further.

Thanks!

Aaron

Do you need textured model for the lights ? Could you specify please. Or PM.

PM sent,

Few more details, just the lighting effects would be fine.

Areas that need to be covered are;
2 runways
Taxiways
Papi

If anyone is interested please let me know and we can discuss further regarding payment, and if possible I'd be interested to see your previous work

Thanks

Aaron

Aaron, I think If you have all entire scene done by 3D and Photoshop so your team is quite smart and clever. Open Effects folder in FSX root, find something like "fx_beaconwhi" effect and attach it to your Object of lightning units. All done. I mean fx_beaconwhi as an example.. Just tweak it your way. If you need Apron lights that actually lit the ground, then there are couple of addon sceneries that do that. Take effect from them tweak it your way and attach it to object. Am I wrong here ?

Cheers.

Runway - I suggest SCASM. Not hard to do, unless you plan for custom approach lightning. It gets bad past that point.

Papi: Can be made by SCASM, or if you prefer a 3D model, by BGL lights. Can discuss over mail if you wish - my adress is in contact info. You can also find some stuff in this forum.

Taxiway lights - probably what fsfox said is the best way at this point.

Thanks for your help guys,

I'm unable to do the lights personally at the moment and the other developers are unable to assist...

So back to my problem... Basically its all finished just needing runway and taxiway lighting at night.

Is anyone willing to accept this as a paid project? Let me know please.

Thank you

Aaron

If you make a horizontal plane representing the actual light bulb case, and a vertical plane with a halo on it you get a very good effect for taxiway lightning. And it won't be very visible from far away, in fact it is most visible when on the ground, which is good!

Good idea, I'll give this a go.

Thank you!

You mean using textures for the lights?, I see as difficult to position all those lights, to get the lights isn't hard at all. attaching the effect to an invisible plane can do the work to. The PAPI lights are another stuff but you could try to add the defaults one.

Thanks! I'm sure glad it all worked.

I used the same method in the forum topics... Basically textured polygons using the black day texture and normal texture for night. Then applied the settings under frame buffer blend and happy days.

I'm just playing with the textures now and looking at the idea of using LOD for the runway lights.

Anyway here is a quick look.

Thanks again

Aaron
