I have just completed development of the last planned feature of SAMM2, i.e., the simulation of global variables.
Many complex FS8/9 aircraft models use global variables to control certain animations rather than using standard animation techniques. Presumably, these variables reflect the position of certain cockpit controls which, of course, don't exist in static models. Previous versions of SAMM ignored those animations.
This new version of SAMM 2, 2.1.00(k), available as the Development Release from http://stuff4fs.com, allows you to set global variables and SAMM will respond to those settings. Updated documentation is included.
While few of you are likely to make use of this new capability, I would appreciate it if you would download and use the new release in your day-to-day SAMM activities anyway. This will help ensure that the next general release is as "bug-free" as possible. Of course, if you do use the new features, I'll be interested in your feedback.
As some of you may be aware, there has been a concentrated effort during the past few days to eliminate all remaining bugs from SAMM2. Thanks to those involved. (Due to the underwhelming response to my request for volunteers to help test SAMM2, it was released with far more bugs that it might otherwise have had.) Version (k) includes all the new fixes.
