• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SbuilderX and Prepar3dv2

Hi guys,
I have moved over to Prepar3d V2.
My original FSX disks are not so good anymore...a couple of years ago I managed to create a virtual ISO of disk 1 because I was having problems getting the SDK files off it.

I have only just recently moved over to a brand new Samsung SSD and am re-installing everything from scratch. I wasn't worried about the bad FSX disk 1 (because I had the virtual ISO copy), however, I now find disk 2 has died as well (and I don't have an ISO of that unfortunately).

Now since I cannot get FSX SDK up and running properly...how can I configure SbuilderX to work with Prepar3d V2?

Do I simply install only the FSX SDK from Disk 1?
Will SbuilderX work for Prepar3d V2?

Hi.

look at this link:

http://www.ptsim.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=2311

I also believe the ESP SDK tools would work with FSX... not completely sure, but I seem to recall FSX will accept all those BGLs. And if FSX accepts it, then P3D will accept it.

P3D v2 still uses the same formats for terrain and scenery placement. It appears the headers of the BGLs have changed, but terrain and placement are still backwardly compatible. As the above link describes, P3D compiled models will not be recognized correctly by 314. This may be changed by a future update, if Luis still has interest in this. ( His main love is sailing, and he has semi-retired from scenery development ).

Also, Luis' 314 update depends on having the 313 version already installed. 314 was developed primarily to keep compatibility with Windows Vista, 7 and 8, as well as take advantage of x64 systems memory advantages. It was not a P3D update. 313 developed scenery will also work with P3D v2.

P3D v3, currently being developed, might not allow older ASM-tweaked models to be used. This might require all our old FSX programs to be updated to recognise the new model headers. I believe scruffyduck has already updated ADE to use the new model format, so these models can be placed.

I have also moved away from FSX and now only have P3D_V1.4 and V_2.2 Installed. I have the latest 64bit update for SBX installed and decided yesterday to try to capture an airport ground texture. That function appears to be grayed out now. Has anyone else had the same experience or can someone suggest a fix, if there is one? I don't use SBX for object placement, only for ground textures, landclass, water, etc.

I've decided to simply reinstall FSX. It's not worth the hassle of trying to force two programs to work together when they don't like each other, lol.
