• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SBuilderX Flatten

Hi,

Have made with FSBuilderX a Flatten poly with "AB Flatten" in order to have a flat area for my airport scenery.
Is this "AB Flatten" the right choice ? Because I have a GMAX poly that is peeling off when I am at the ground and peeling on seen from an altitude. :(
Have set the plane to a higher layer, but I doesn't help very much.

Or is therefore FSX_KML-program better ? But then with which GUID ?

Hi Jose,

Could be that you are seeing the FsX earth curvation problem. That means that a GMax ground polygon now only works correctly if the vertices are not further than 100 meter apart. If they are further apart, the polygon will not follow the mesh correctly and seem to float or sink.

Hi,

I fear that's the reason. Strange that it happens now and not before. As FSX is located on my second HD, it takes time to test. I made a texturing fault, so tomorrow I hope to texture the plane normally and have no problem anymore (in my life... :D ).

Hi,

Have now a stable polygon. :)
Can I use now a very plane with segments (this was for a road)... each nog longer than 100 meter ?
Or was it slicing ? How to do it exactly ?

Strange thing however, that when I retextured a polgyn with the same width but not so long... I got in FS a tiny polygon. Something is happening in GMAX, but what ? How to avoid that ? :yellowfla

Thanks for the hint...

Greetz. José.

My limited experience says check the elevations of the flatten and your GMax poly, as even a very teeny, tiny difference will cause the bleed-off at low elevations. By teeny, tiny IIRC I had a difference of 1/100 of a meter and it caused problems for me until I got it worked out.
