• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SbuilderX map .BGL won't create

I am really stumped. I purchased a large piece of Sat imagery for a healthy sum of money. The reason for the purchase is the license to use it in a product for resale. I am trying to import it into SbuilderX as a map, and then create a .BGL.

I got it to work once, but that's it. I calibrated it, I set the xdim and ydim coordinates , and created the required .txt file. I even renamed it to the required photo 1.

During this time, I do not have my flight simulator running.

Now it creates the .ini file, and the text file, and yada yada yada, but no .BGL.

It's not in the work folder where it always goes. When I click compile, i check photo scenery, and the create .BGL box. All I get is a quick flash of a DOS screen, and no running compiler that I usually see in the DOS screen. And most importantly. NO .BGL.

What am I doing wrong? I searched the forums, and found a topic, where a guy was having the same issue, but a couple threads later, he said he figured it out, and they were off to talking about something else, with no resolution.

PLEASE HELP, I'm SERIOUSLY STUCK...

Just a couple things off the top of my head that might be the issue:

1)Is the SbuilderX installation complete (have you installed all files and followed instructions)
2)Is the photo located in your \Tools\Work folder (I think they need to be there in order to be compiled).

OK. Maybe (however unlikely) there is a problem with the INI. Post the code here and also run it through resample using the command line so that it stays on the screen and you can see the error message it spits out.

Okay, I will try and do that when I get back home. I tried dropping it on Resample.exe, but I just saw a quick flash of the dos window, and then nothing else happened. I put resample.exe, and all the other files together, in the same folder.

I'm assuming you are unsure of how exactly to do this.

Open the command line and enter this:
Code:
"[COLOR="Red"]C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Terrain SDK\[/COLOR]resample.exe" "[COLOR="red"]C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Terrain SDK\[/COLOR]photo[COLOR="Red"]_your_file[/COLOR].INF"

Where what is in red will change according to your paths and filenames. You should be able to see the error code then.

hmmmm

Ah, okay, won't have time to do that today, but I will try it on Monday. Thanks for the tip and I'll get back to you with the results.

Thanks

Your tip did the trick!

Well, I followed your instructions by running it in DOS. And bingo...Error said it was not a 24 or 32 .BMP. I went to Photoshop and changed the image to 24bit. AND BAM...It compiled. Days of worry and heartache solved. Thank you mousy....
