• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

So I am placing my photoreal from USGS into SBuilderX. They are .tif and USGS has given me coordinates for the corners and center. In SbuilderX when I click on add map from disk it ask me to calibrate the map. It is asking for North Lat and South Lat, and West Long and East Long. I would the put in the NW corner long for the West long and the NW lat for the North Lat correct? Also do I have to change the files from a .tif to something else because once I calibrate the map it says map format incorrect.

The GIS format from the USGS site is very close to what FSX wants.

This ain't horseshoes and close does not count! :D

FSX requires that the GIS format be in Geographical/WGS84. USGS gives you something that is different. If someone is looking for a FREE utility to convert into the format FSX uses, then this might work;

Once it's in the proper format, the GeoTiff could be loaded into SBuilderX. Though once it's in the proper format, there's no reason the file can't be compiled with Resample and an INF file. If the file from USGS is too large, even in the proper format, then SBX will display a message box and tell you that Maps has been turned off.
