• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Is there a software that would report all objects used in an airport scenery?
For example it would scan all placement files for a folder.

Thanks.

Hi,

That's a good question, I think there are a few, but I can't remember the names. Does ADE not have such a functionality in it?

Normally it is a good idea to keep track which libraries you are using when designing the scenery. Since you have to tell your users to install all those libraries as well.

LOM does but it is really designed to work with a LOM project. I think I have a part built extract of that code for a stand alone utility - I will have a look.

It might be a nice addon to ModelConverterX in the future as well, but at the moment it is not there :).

Let me look at the code I have - I checked and the Scenery File Analyzer in LOM looks to be a separate module.

Thanks to both of you for looking into this. I think indeed it's an interesting concept and would be very useful.

I'm pretty sure I read about it somewhere among the 2,395,012 web sites I visited in the past year or so :) Too bad I can't remember which one.

While I have you both in the same thread I'll ask a question that's been burning my lips for a while. Is it traditional for developers in Europe to not use the button.default property and to not use any mnemonics (i.e. Alt + F)? It is part of user friendliness and I miss it.

The next version of ADE will have a tool to list the libraries containing the library objects used in the project.

Well first I used to be in the contracting business so I am well versed in the 'for weeks read months and for months read years' method of determining time to completion...

and second do we mean something like this?

If so then we are testing this build at the moment so really what I should have said is that it requires two tester weeks to complete. I will leave y'all to define what a 'tester week' is ;);) :D

This is great but I was thinking about one more piece of information and that is the origin library of the objects.
That way when you want to distribute an airport scenery you can make sure you point out the users to the required objects library that are included in your scene...which is the point of my search for such program.

Hmmm - well that is exactly what it is telling you. The libraries that contain the objects that are in your scenery. - in this case airport_objects.bgl and hazards.bgl. If the user does not have these (they happen to be stock but that is not an issue here since ADE reports the library the object is in) then they will not see your objects.

What other library are you looking for then?

Jon it seems I misunderstood the image. I thought the names on the left were from BGL created by an object placer that would contain references to object libraries. I didn't recognize the names as default library since they must be from FSX.

Yes they are as it happens. So we are 'on the same page' then?
