FS2004 Scenery GenX error with Windows 7

Running GenX Build 61 with Windows 7 on a new computer I am opening a scenery made on my older computer (with Vista, and the same Build 61) and it opens fine. When compiling to check that GenX is running ok I get the error message "BGL compression error: Errors in Generated XML Code". Opening the XML code to read the compiler messages I get "Internal compiler error: Failed to create MSXML object (0x80040154)" and below "ERROR C2470: Unrecoverable error parsing XML! ERROR C2006: Parse failed (0x80004005) ERROR C2003: Failed to process file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft etc etc".

Any ideas? Probably it is nothing to do with Windows 7 and is something basic, like having bglcomp set up wrongly, though as far as I can see my setup is identical in both computers.

The MS Bgl Compiler requires MSXML 4 to work -it seems that is not installed or the program cannot find it.

You are welcome

Secret Error

I have now got around to making a new scenery on my new laptop with SceneryGenX and Windows 7. As a first step I made a flatten. GenX works perfectly, and compiles and tells me that it has placed the bgl and API bgl in FS9/addon scenery/scenery, as normal, plus another folder that I specified. Except that when I look in both places they are not there, in either place! At least, not there called by the name it says it used. When I go back to FS9 I find that they MUST be there in addon scenery/scenery as the flatten has taken effect!?! I confirm this by altering the height of the flatten and then checking it in FS9. My flabber is gasted, which is a painful condition. Any ideas?

They are probably in "limbo", since you may not have permission to create files in that scenery folder. They are probably being kept in a special folder within your Username folder. I don't remember what it's called, and it's probably hidden.

You can try editing the Properties of your SGX shortcut (or the program icon itself) and check Run As Administrator.
