• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Scenery Objects disapperaing

Hi there. I'm still relatively new to FSX Mission Building. I've read through the SDK and PCPilot tutorials and am having trouble getting scenery and ai I place with the OPT to still be there when I try to test the mission. Basically, I open the OPT and add triggers, actions and ai, then I exit and restart FSX and try to fly the mission to test it and the scenery I added will be there. Then I make some minor changes and exit and reopen FSX to test it again and the scenery isn't there anymore. It won't show up again until I reboot the computer and even then, it only sometimes shows up, and when it doesn, it only shows up for the very first test.

I'm using SP1A with the SP1A SDK if that matters.

I can't proceed with learning more about Mission-building until I get this fixed. Please help, :)

Thx,
Josh

Do you mean the mission does not run? Does it show in the missions menu? What message do you get ESCaping the mission?

No no, I guess I worded it weird. When I go in to test a mission I've been working on, certain scenery objects aren't there. For instance, I placed, just for practice, three bodyguards to the right of my cockpit. Sometimes, when I start the mission, they are all three there. Sometimes, only two and sometimes none of them are there.

There doesn't appear to be any logical reason why they randomly disappear. I was wondering if you had any insight into this issue.

FSX sometimes is a bit buggy with those things, but scenery objects appearing by random is new to me. Does the mission work well otherwise?

They don't appear randomly as in, pop upu without ever being placed there. It's only the objects I actually place that pop in and out. Other than that, yes, I think so. The mission seems to do what I tell it, however, I'm still not sure what I'm telling it to do. I'm trying to learn AIAircraft stuff now and am finding it to be a little complex. I've done mission-building before with other microsoft games so I'm familiar with the concept but have never done it through FSX before. I won't ask you to explain all the different aspects of making AI tsxi, takeoff and fly to waypoints and such, but do you know of a good tutorial or forum that gives more clear information on that by chance? I read the SDK definitions but they don't explain exactly what the different AIStates and UnitModes etc. do or how to use them.

Josh

It doesn't explain it because the options are quite limited. All you need to do is assigning waypoints, that's just about all (almost).
There are some very informative threads ybout AI and waypoints here in the forum, too. ;)

Hi Folks

ISTR this being a previously identified issue
with scenery objects loading/displaying
on alternate mission loads in the OPT.

Initial load -
certain scenery objects display, others don't.

Second load -
Other scenery objects display,
initally displaying batch dont.

There are other threads on this subject
back in the post FSX RTM early days.

It's a PITA when using the OPT,
but AFAIK doesn't occur in game when actually flying your mission.

That sounded like you actually flew the mission. Sorry for the misunderstanding, if you meant you're in the OPT, that is the known issue indeed.
