• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.

Scenery problems related to FSX visibility range

I've got a problem with FSX scenery for CYEE Midland, Ontario. When the visibility range is set to 5 miles several unwanted polygons (I assume they are polys) appear in the scenery as white areas. As the visibility range is increased from 5 miles to unlimited they become more and more transparent until at unlimited visibility they are gone. Difficult to describe this problem so here is a link to some screen prints showing what I mean.

Hope someone has an idea that can help.

Thanks,

Hi,

Could it be these are polygons related to the (night) lighting of the airport?

The scenery is by the Flight Ontario group and was designed for FSX. I've posted on their forum but no response from them yet.

Arno,

I've just tried setting the time to 5:00 a.m. and changing the weather from clear to foggy. It shows that these polys are definatley related to the airport night lighting. Thanks for the hint!

Here are two pics showing the effect. http://s1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg570/HarbourFlyer/

I guess the next step will be to try and figure out what textures are used for the lighting and see if I can remove them.

Yes, it's a problem with the light beam and the foggy weather, it's well known, look for "lights beam" in some thread and problably they talk about this. for now the best you can do is to get rid of them.
