3DS Max SDK fails to install in Max2020.3

I am finally getting moved from P3Dv5.1 development to FS2020, however I've encountered a real problem...
...and yes, the installer did find Max2020 installed and auto-checked the install option for me.

I have both Max2018 and Max2020.3 installed on my newer development computer. Running the SDK installer as administrator, the SDK tools installed properly in Max2018, but does not install at all in Max2020.3...

Does anyone have any suggestions on what might have gone wrong?

I've looked in the Max2018 folders to try to identify where the SDK tools installed so I could compare with the Max2020.3 file structure with no success whatsoever. :scratchch

Just a guess, but the installer might look for the first instance of MAX, and just install it there. You could take a chance and uninstall 2018, reboot, install for 2020, reboot install MAX2018, then reinstall the SDK.

But there has got to be a less risky way.

I may just have to do that. I have Max2018 installed on another computer, so won't really need it on my new(er) development computer.

However, when the SDI installer is run, it does detect both 2018 and 2020.3 and pre-selects both for installation...

The main problem being that the SDK only installs a bit less than half of the new tools in Max2018 but the full set of tools is supposed to be installed in Max2020.3, so go figure!
