• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA SDK Installation hangs

Hi folks,

I've run into some trouble with the SDK, which installed fine once, but will not install now that I have tried to install it again having moved PC.

The Deluxe edition and SP1a install fine, but when trying to install the Accel SDK, the installer hangs completely (no movement in 24h solid) when determining space requirements

I'm running Vista 32.

Any ideas :( ?

Cheers,
David

Maybe you should install the Fsx deluxe Sdk and his updates first, and then Accel Sdk, look at the wiki to see the order in which the Sdk must be installed.

Hi Bernardo,

:-/ As stated, that is what I have done - it is only now when I come to install the Acceleration SDK that the installer does not move-on :)

Cheers,
David

Since you are running Vista, there is always the chance that UAC could be getting in the way. Make sure you are running the installer program as an administrator. Also, you might want to try installing the SDK (from scratch) to a folder that isn't by default protected (ie not your Program Files folder). I have mine installed on my separate FS drive, in a folder just off the root (E:\SDK\FSX).

If that isn't the problem then I'm not too sure what exactly could be causing it

Hi Sean,

Well that one's still out of the equation, as I ALWAYS have UAC disabled (most annoying thing in Windows for deep-system editors), as well as DEP (2nd most annoying :p)

I shall try installing it somewhere else and get back on that one...but like you say...this is an odd one

Cheers,
David
