• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Setting simulation variables within a Simconnect.

Hello!
Am trying to send some parameters into FSX via Simconnect using "Simulation Variables". For instance, as per the documentation, the variable "RECIP ENG FUEL FLOW:index" allows reading and recording the fuel flow value. When I try to indicate this value variable, FSX recalculates it and display on the gauge the new one instead of mine :(.
1) How to deactivate such recalculations by FSX in cases when I set the value?
2) IF this is not possible, why the variables were set up as settable and what are their purposes ?

It's probably an error in the SDK. ENG FUEL FLOW GPH:index is not settable. Neither are many other reciprocating engine variables.

Reading them enables them to be displayed or used for fuel management purposes.

ENG FUEL FLOW GPH:index - this is one of variables I'm suffering the problems

GENERAL ENG OIL PRESSURE:index
GENERAL ENG EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE:index
GENERAL ENG OIL TEMPERATURE:index

ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY
ELECTRICAL TOTAL LOAD AMPS
.
.
.
ELECTRICAL GENALT BUS AMPS:index
etc.

All these variables are described that they are setting. But, some of them can be set, but FSX still recalculates (these variables have some inertness, so we can see as they are changed unlike those that do not have this proporty). AS the result the parameters are shaking

No, that one is quite explicitly labled as "N" (not settable):

ENG FUEL FLOW GPH:index Engine fuel flow Gallons per hour N
In fact, none of the ones you've cited are "Settable". All are clearly marked in the SDK as "N"
