Shadows, again

Hi,

The old gmax 1.1 export could make objects that would SHOW THE SHADOW OF ANOTHER OBJECT. I know how to do that. Problem is, I no longer have gmax 1.1 and its associated gamepack installed.

The question is, then, is it possibe to make this new gmax 1.2 + gamepack create the old format of xxxx.asm and xxxx_0.asm? I tried to use the FS2002 gamepack which does create asm files, but it does not create the old style of files.

Or do I have to install gmax 1.1 in my back up computer from the FS2002 CDs?

Thanks!

F

Hi Fern.

Do you have any of that old ASM code? I'm interested as well.

Could you attach it to a post?

Old asm code

Hi, Dick

I have some. I have the one I did for the Arecibo observatory, where the dish had to show the shadow of the columns, cables and gondola.

But I have a friend who kept one PC running the old gmax 1.1, so, if you need anything done, I can ask him.

I am seriously thinking about installing it back in my old computer as well.

Let me know.

Fern

gmax 1.1

Dick, one more thing...

I found a great big explanation of yours on ground polygons and platforms.

Now, my objective is to be able to make gmax object that will show the shadow of another object. With the old gmax 1.1, no problem. With this one, I know you guys know it, but I can't find the "how".

Can you point me in the right direction? Where is the explanation?

Thanks

Fern

Hi Fern,

I don't think the version of GMax does matter. It is the gamepack that makes the BGL files. So I guess if you use the old gamepack with GMax 1.2 it should produce the same results.

Actually I still have both the Fs2002 and the Fs2004 gamepack installed here.
