• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

i am not applying photo textures i have to make my own, panel lines rivets etc.my uvw lith maps in paintshop pro, look nice.but small objects, are small uvw maps...if i zoom in they become blocky like a couple of lego bricks..i cant
use this as a template, to paint over..

a resolution problem?...ime not a photographer, so not much experiance with psp...

ive printed the manual for psp, it seems aimed at photographers..

i understand layers, and a few other things, but not too much, yet...

so my first task is an image to use as a backdrop for painting...but the uvw maps on any object smaller than 3 metres is just too blocky..

what basic knowledge am i missing?...i can spray paint graffiti on my fusalage
and export to fsx/acc no problemo..but details like rivet lines..not yet.jim

Are you using LithUnwrap v1.3, which is apparently the latest?

How are you exporting your UVW Bitmap from LithUnwrap?

UVW Map/Save?

Have you selected:

Color and outline?

Fill?

If you do select those options, you won't have the little "square boxes" at all the vertex points, but instead have straight lines...

I always allow at least two pixels "overspray" area when texturing, as it eliminates the possibility of "holidays" (un-painted edges).

yes i understand

ive just been playing with a small object, uvw map 15m by 15m as all my maps.

my a/c i slightly under 15m long. i can use the lum lith for merging into one large 1024, 1024, sheet, several sheets needed.

in lith i can zoom small object, tiny blockiness dissapears.large image nice for
drawing details.....not i think a good idea to use lith for messing with uvws,
except for the merge...

so perhaps i expand small objects in uvw unwrap before export...

i am new to this, as you can see......i map uvw 15m 15m. suitably place them,
export, bmp into psp...and i have what i see in tutorials....but my tiny objects
cant be zoomed, as they become large blocky objects...

tiny object in uvw unwrap, pixel snap ..enlarge to size ican work with..export..

paint.apply to model...uvw remembers correct size...uvw maps are detailed
enough for painter?

am i anywhere near enlightenment......jim

You absolutely must "scale" small parts up in the UVW Editor. In fact, there's no reason why you should use a 15m x 15m UVW Map to begin with for small parts.

Try 1m x 1m instead. That will save a lot of work!

LithUnwrap should only be used to load the .md3 file and UVW/Save the bitmap. Period.
