• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.

FSX Sim crashes....video?

As I recall from some time ago there was a way to allocate(?) video memory(?) to assure that the video card would be able to keep up with the sim to prevent crashing. Forgive me... I'm no techie so that's the best I can do to describe what I think might be causing my problem.

Back then I used the boxed FSX Deluxe. Now I'm using the Steam Edition which has significantly higher frame rates that could be overloading the processor. Up until now, about 2 years, it worked fine but now FSX crashes after 5 or 6 minutes of flight?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Given the timeframe, I'd suspect the CPU is overheating, since it will be fully "occupied": by both FSX and FSX-SE.

I'm not sure, but perhaps what you are thinking about is the frame rate limit? You can set that in FSX Options.

Thanks guys....twas another silly oversight on my part. I had recently done a clean install of Fsx Steam for other problems which was installed with the default settings...ultra high across the board!
