P3D v2 Skinned Mesh won't work :(

Hi all,

Can anybody offer any ideas or pointers on how to get a skinned mesh to work in P3D ?
The part in question is for a leather 'boot' at the base of a control column. So the lower part should be stationary on the floor and the top 'cuff' rotates forward and aft with the column.
I have the 'is skinned mesh' check box in its sub-material checked. The single bone required is correctly animated and tagged. It animates and works fine in 3DSMax (V12). In P3D the entire 'boot' animates as if it's not skinned at all. I simply can not get it to animate as a skinned mesh. Any help appreciated.

Hi Skip,
I didn´t test it especially with P3D but my skinned mesh animated persons still work in P3D. They are designed with FSX-SDK but they also work when using the scenery in P3D (2.4).
Did you only test the object in P3D or also in FSX? It took me many hours to find out all things that have to be done for a running skinned mesh animation.
I posted a small step by step manual at my homepage: http://www.flightport.de/anleitungen/bone-animation/
Although it is made with Gmax not 3DSMax, it perhaps can help you finding the problem.

One absolute requirement: the texture you are using as "skin" cannot be Linked to anything in the hierarchy at all. It must remain in the root (base level) of the model's objects.
