• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Hey Guys

I have a question about a moving plaform. I know a platform can´t be animated but how the ACES guys find the solution for the carrier elevators ? I want to have an object that is harded to land (platform) and
moving forward and backward. I have thought about the elevator animation to change the axes in the animation but it doesn´t work. Or if a normal placeble object haven´t the function.

Hessen,

I know a very small amount about this. I had read in the SDK that you can attach a landing surface on boxes (Buildings, Carriers, etc). It was originally intended to make landing pads for Helicopters on buildings, but I assume you use the same technique for carriers. You might ask Arno how to attach a landing surface on a box. I think he even has a tutorial on this and it can be attached (I think) in MCX. Again, I know very little on the subject, but have read about it. Its very easy from what I understood.

Hey dude,

yeah I know how I would attach a platform to the 3D object. I also have readed the SDK and topics here but i dont see a solution for a animated Platform that is hard surfaced in the animation.
@ Arno I need your help :)

regards Julian

You might try this test. Create a box. Then create a plane and position it just above the top of the box. Make the plane a platform using attach tool and link it to the box. Animate the box moving it forward, back, left of right. With the platform linked to the box it should move with it. Hope this helps.
