• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 [SOLVED] P3D CTD after creating non-default airport

Hello,

lately I have a rather strange problem. I used to create many basic afcads before for airports, that are not yet included in P3D. But lately I can't do that anymore and I don't know what has changed or what I am doing wrong.

First I thought it is a P3D v4 problem but in P3D v3 I can't open them either. It only happens when such a newly created airport comes in sight or (of course) when I want to start from it.

I attached very basic afcads. Both airports I cannot load. P3D quits with "P3D has stopped working"

Someone has any idea?

I tried with ADE 1.71 and with the newest 1.75. Also I tried to compile with 3 different SDKs (P3Dv1, P3Dv3 and P3Dv4)

Any help would be much appreciated. Maybe someone can try those AFCADs and see if you can pop up in UGPK or UGSA. Maybe it is a problem of my P3D installations?

You have an isoated parking spot in UGSA_ADEP3_ADE.bgl

Hello George,

thank you. But should that be a problem? With isolated you mean that it is not connected to some taxiway etc? Actually UGPK is nothing but one parking spot. Should that be a reason for the sim to crash?

Yes - every version of FS that I am aware of will crash if an unconnected parking spot is present.

Wow, I can't recall that it happened before and usually I am not paying attention to those connections as I thought they are just for AI - reasons (or maybe GSX) what was not really important to me.

One more question though: How would I achieve a bush strip. It basically has no runway and only this one parking spot... where could I connect it to?

You connect it with taxi links. If you do not want tarmac, you can use apron links.

Add a runway link down the center of your runway and then attach the parking with apron links

Will be easy in UGSA but the other one is really a bush strip (grass on a mountain slope) why I do not want to add a runway at all. Is a runway mandatory? How are helipads created? If there are special rules for them, I could add a helipad there and that's it...

Many such strips are created using terrain polygons (that follow the terrain), and a tiny runway hidden away somewhere. In areas that are not flat you cannot create a taxiway system, include any parking spots, nor can they be used by AI aircraft. You can add helipads and start locations though.

Thank you all. It indeed worked fine now... I just added a tiny bit of apron link and that's it. A runway was not needed.

So, if I understand you correctly, a parking spot and a taxi link are the only elements necessary to establish a working airport in the sim?

Also if I could ask, off topic apologies, are your Georgian Virtual airports fictional, or real? It's a beautiful and rugged country, much like the Pacific Northwest where I live. It is one of the few areas where one can see actual bomb craters using Google Earth, left by the 2008 Russian intervention.

That's how it worked for me now, yes. If you want, I can share it here, it is really one of the simplest AFCADS of all time :D

Yes, they are real. UGMS Mestia is a really nice place, I have flown there myself (as a passenger), Ambrolauri just opened this year. This one "Pskhu" is also real but there is almost no information about it. It lies in the russian occupied region of Abkhazia. It has no ICAO code or anything but a google maps entry :) They are flying there with Antonov 2 planes, there are a few pictures on google. Will be nice when the Aerosoft Version releases any time soon! There are quite a few very nice freeware airports in that area, that make it really a joy to fly...

Most of the features in ADE would not be used for sloped 'bush flying' airstrips, and all that is required to add an entry to the FS airport pick-list is a "Start Location".

One of my favorite STOL airstrips would only be able to accommodate a single "Start Location" with NO parking. ;)
