• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 Some problems with Gmax ground

Thanks for the response, what i did was create the multi-material, then change the ID's of the polygons to match the material then a UVW Map and they just show as a colour. Or is that the wrong way round I assume?

I'm not sure if you forget to click on the "dice" of the texture to make texture visible....:D

If it is not the case, please tell me. I have a tutorial but I need to convert from Thai to English. Sorry that I don't have the tutorial in word, just only pdf one.
tutorial01-1.jpg

On fig 01
1. Make a plane, size does not matter now. But the proportion need to be a multiplier of 1024. In the picture I make a plane at 1024x4086 meter and let the segments to be 4 in length and 1 in width. (4)
2. Make material of your satellite photo of which need to be at 1024x1024 pixels. Make it multimaterial and each Id as one of the picture progressively down like arrow 5
3. Mapping (6) that multimaterial to the plane you just did by using Planar and fill the box (8) with 1024 in both length and width.
4. The photo will fit nicely on each polygon in your ground poly. But each polygon in Ground poly will be the same. Next thing you need to unwrap it if it does not fit or the orientation is not what you want(9)
tutorial02.jpg

5. Then hit collase to your ground poly and select each polygon (10) and change the ID to that polygon according to each photo (red small arrow). In the picture the last polygon in my project is 4, so I changed that one to 4 and the picture will change.
6. Now you are done with your ground poly. Next thing you have to do is to match the size of it. You know how long the runway is, you make your dummy runway to that lenght and resize your gound poly to fit the runway length. That's all. No need to clone, no need to match each polygons. I think it is easier.
I got an idea from this web site but I cannot remmember which thread, let the credit be his if one knows.
