• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Spaceflight dynamics module for FSX

Pretty cool indeed! ;)

Should look even better with this: http://secure.simmarket.com/flyways-the-earth-fsxp3dp3dv2-(de_8686).phtml

I used the Blue Marble ultra high resolution images from NASA to create the images: https://visibleearth.nasa.gov/view_cat.php?categoryID=1484&p=2
I think I only included LOD8 or so, would have to check. From space that's more than enough, but you won't be able to use it below 100km, most of all because right below the user vehicle there's a gap where LOD9 and above are drawn. Doesn't matter if you're very high up since that rectangle is rather small then. It's a limitation I had to live with when creating the image set.
You'll find more screenshots on the product page.

Yup, I have those files. In fact, I have the cloud cover separate, and I'm trying to get it over the default FSX scenery using various alpha intensity. It is giving me different shades depending on LOD, prob due to the resampling algorithm. Driving me nuts.

This can be another way to go (to completely replace the FSX default landscape tiles), however, the launch sites better be clear of clouds, otherwise it will look like snow in Florida :D

We have a Liftoff!!!
I've been busy at work putting latest functionality and graphic assets in - here are the results! The rocket can be built from the components (this is my very own SLS Block 1 model), launched and staged, as it travels to orbit (the graphics are placeholder, the final version will be far more detailed ). There is still a lot of work to do on Launch event profiling, orbital rendezvous math and other astrodynamic nitty gritty, but the core (ground-to-orbit) functionality is in!

Huh what's that UFO doing in the background there?
This looks amazing Misho! I'm looking forward to the (high)detailed version.

Simply incredible, especially for a dated platform like FSX. I can only imagine what you'd be able to pull off in Prepar3D with its better visuals and additional APIs exposed in the SDK.

Falcon 9 or Falcon Heavy might be pretty fun to watch with recoverable boosters. ;)

I've been working hard on the MFD instrumentation programming for the Orion spacecraft, and here are a few pics of the work in progress. All of the MFDs are independent with all of the buttons active. The screens are split, (plus there are full screen modes if needed), so the instrument display can show 6 modes at once. The MFD gauge "talks" to my main FSX SpacePort space add-on for the space specific stuff, plus it also connects to the FSX (server) itself, for other, more general info.

Obviously, I've done a lot of on-line research and I'm mostly surmising what NASA is working on, so this won't be the true analogue until NASA finalizes their version and makes it available publicly.

This triggers so many Kerbal Space Program flashbacks. Hope there's a MechJeb (autopilot) menu. :D

Have you already been contacted by NASA? since your version of the Orion spacecraft look absolutely great Misho.

You can also look at the sub-contractor who provide the guidance systems for NASA to get more actual information about its capacities

Whoa, thanks for the links  Especially the PDFs - I haven't seen those before, and glad to say I got the basic functionality right just by analyzing the pics! Glad I don't have to re-work anything! ;)

Well, Astronauts are mostly just passengers during the launch, so yes, the whole thing relies on a pre-programmed series of events (what I call an "auto sequencer", I think they used that term during the Apollo days). So yeah, there will be a list (literally, an ASCII text "cfg" file) that is read and executed, event by event.

Building thunderstorms - NOT the weather you want to launch in! Nah - let's launch anyway - we now have the LAS (Launch Abort System) working!

Lots of things are falling in place - and then out of it... :D Here are the Orion Encapsulated Service Module Panels (ESMP) jettisoned:

Here is a full launch video I put together last night. The only thing I post processed is the radio chatter and the textual annotations. I haven't had a chance to add smoke effects yet - they need to be carefully fine tuned, since they are a bit of a drain on performance. Enjoy!
