• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Stock scenery objects not showing up

I am in the first stages of redoing a stock airport so I added the exclude all, then redrew the runway, aprons, taxiways, parkings, etc. Added the windsocks and for the time being I added stock scenery objects (hangars) until I have the time to design them.

For the tower, which I also moved, I checked the "Add scenery object". The problem is that while everything else shows, including the fuel vehicle parked at the Vehicle Parking place (has a vehicle taxiway) shows up but all the stock hangars I added are not visible! I can see autogen buildings in surrounding the airport but those I added are not shown.

Hi Emilio:

Typically, when an airport is processed by an airport utility (ex: AFX, ADE, FSX Planner etc.) and then copied into a "new" version of that airport as a project file and/or BGL file(s) for editing by the end user, "some" types of objects are excluded... and IIRC, most commonly, scenery library objects are among those excluded. ;)

Have you examined your output BGLs to see if there is an exclude which prevents the "stock hangars" from being rendered ?

I suggest that you open the FS SDK SHP2VEC generated "CVX" BGLs in:

[FSX SDK install path]\SDK\Environment Kit\Terrain SDK\TmfViewer.exe

I also suggest that you open the FS SDK BGLComp generated BGLs in ex: NotePad (...after decompiling any "BGLComp XML" placement file with):

Alessandro Antonini's BGLXML version 2.1:

http://www.fs2000.org/index.php/downloads/doc_details/9077--fsx-bglxml-21\

...Or:

[EDITED]

Scruffyduck's BGL2XML current version:

http://downloadcenter.scruffyduck.org.uk/ > ScruffyDuck Utilities > BGL2XML > Bgl2Xml Version 1.50

NOTE: This 'current' version of BGL2XML has been tested and found to be fully functional for purposes of reviewing BGLComp XML source code.

FYI: A previous discussion on malfunctioning older versions of BGL2XML (I) encountered, has been removed from this thread ...and relocated here:

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?p=594865#post594865

[END_EDIT]

Once the BGLComp XML code is available, look for any excludes that may prevent rendering of scenery library objects placed at your airport.

Hope this helps ! :)
