• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Strange Behavior in FSX:SE

This is a real puzzler! For some unknown reason, FSX:SE will not display the B737-200C in the Aircraft Selection Menu. It will not show up under any of the three sorted categories:
Manufacturer: Boeing, Created by: Milviz, or Type Role: Cargo...

...yet the same aircraft.cfg works perfectly in FSX (Gold), and all versions of Prepar3D!

Up until recently all Milviz products installed and displayed properly. Anyone else experience this?

EDIT: I uninstalled FSX:Steam yesterday because I found to my horror that it had "hijacked" my FSX (disk) Registry entry. Now FSX:SE won't even install properly. I think DTG has fubared the Steam version...
Code:
[fltsim.0]
title=Milviz B737-200 CanNorth
sim=737-200
model=combi
panel=s77
sound=
texture=CANORTH
kb_checklists=Milviz_B732_check
kb_reference=Milviz_B732_ref
atc_id=C-GSPW
atc_airline=Boeing
atc_flight_number=
ui_manufacturer="Boeing"
ui_type="737-200"
ui_variation="CANNORTH"
ui_typerole="Cargo"
ui_createdby="Milviz"
gravel_kit=true

Try to remove the apostrophes. I faintly remember some flavor of FSX not playing nice with them.

I think it was actually a case of a corrupted FSX:SE installation. I noticed that my installers no longer recognized FSX:SE Stand-Alone, and when I check the Registry found that it had "hijacked" my FSX:Gold entry...

So, I "uninstalled" FSX Steam and downloaded a fresh copy. After one failed (incomplete install), a "Repair" has gotten FSX:SE running again in Stand-Alone glory.

Not surprisingly my B737-200C is loading and being recognized in the Aircraft Selection Menu again...

I wonder if manually fixing the registry entry would have done the trick as well.

Possibly, but then I would have had to create a new Registry entry for FSX:SE anyway. By uninstalling FSX:SE it automatically "reverted" my FSX Registry entry. When FSX:SE was re-installed it create a completely new Registry entry for itself as a "stand-alone" version.

FSX:SE has indeed hijacked the FSX:MS registry entry. I've run into that a bazillion times for tech support issues now.
