FSXA Strange Gmax behavior....Please help

Hi,
I am having a problem in Gmax. My earlier install of Gmax was running fine, then I was using Windows XP SP3 on my system. But now I am using Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1, and installed Gmax. After running it for the first time it gave me a driver setup screen I was given several options to select the driver.
Open GL, Direct 3D and HEIDI. Whatever drivers I selected, it gave me an error (I dont remember what was the error message). I tried several times but still no success.
Then I went to the Gmax properties and chose the compatibility mode option..."Run Gmax in compatibility mode of Windows XP SP3" and then again it displayed the driver setup page and this time whatever driver I selected (again I forgot which driver I had selected) it was successful and Gmax started...
But there is a problem in it. When I select or even click any of the viewports, the viewport becomes completely white, sometimes all 4 viewports become white....Rest all features of Gmax are working fine except the Viewports
Do you think I have gone wrong in driver selection, if yes, then can I reselect the drivers. Or will I have to re install Gmax

My System Specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8 Ghz
3 GB RAM
GPU : Nvidia GT 610 2GB

Has anyone of you experienced this type of behavior of Gmax.
I did not experience such problem when I was running gmax on Windows XP SP3..
Please help me.
I am away from my system for some time so wont be able to provide a screenshot of the problem.

All help appreciated,
Take care

Use the Direct3D driver in Win7. It will sometimes still white out but press 1 on the keyboard (not number pad) to refresh the viewports.

Also make sure your video driver is up to date and you have the June 2010 version of DirectX 9.0c installed - you'll get it from Microsoft.

Thanks for the reply Tom,
That means I will have to reinstall Gmax and then select Direct 3D drivers.
Windows 7 already has DirectX 11, can I install Direct X 9c at the same time or will I have to remove DirectX 11 first. Will removing DirectX 11 have any affect on the performance of Windows 7.
Cant I keep both the directX versions at the same time on the system.
If I have to reinstall Gmax, will I need to run Gmax in the compatibility mode for Windows XP Sp3, as I am doing it now.

Regards
Dreamaero

The DirectX 9 June 2010 release installs alongside DirectX 11 in Win7, there's no uninstalling to do. Gmax runs in Win7 Ultimate on my rig without any compatibilities set or fiddled with.

Hi Tom,
Thanks to you, I did as you said and my Gmax is working fine. However, I had to make it run through the compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3. Without the compatibility mode its giving me an error after selecting any driver at the Driver Setup page. The error is "3D renderer failed to initialize check your driver setting via the H-command line option." I am unable to understand what this error means and what I need to do. However with compatibility mode for Win XP its working fine.
I have updated my GPU drivers with the latest drivers.

Thank you for helping me.

Take care
Dreamaero
