• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Strange Happening -- Texture Bounce (?)

Hello All --- working with a new install of FSX and noticed something odd that I have never seen before.

When changing views (spot, cockpit, etc) I am seeing a 'jumping' of the planes and texture movement a few times right after changing to a new view of a plane. It will repeat each time I change views. Only jumps several times, then stops until the view is changed again.

Note that this does not happen with all planes.

Wondering if this is tied to a FSX setting?? Has anyone seen this before --- and hoping there is an easy fix for it. Comments and ideas please!!!

Many Thanks ---- :banghead:

Hello All (again :))
What?? No comments on this one?? Well, after more research, I could not see the forest for the trees here.
The issue appears to stem from the recalculation speed of plane and textures that occurs when views of the aircraft (and ground texture) are changed. If the system (FSX) is bogged down with heavy rendering, the problem occurs, at least of some systems. The easy solution was to reduce the texture settings somewhat to reduce this loading. And it worked.

My system is fairly high-end in terms of performance (4.4 GHz mobo, fast memory, and GTX970) but this seems to boil down to the internal loop in FSX and not totally dependent on system hardware performance. Going to spend more time experimenting with this, and will post any significant findings.

:D

I suspect you'll get more info on this problem at AVSim rather than here: lots of FSX tweakers and tweaking info there.

Hi Tom (hairyspin) ---- yep, AVSim is where I did find some early information on this issue. Thanks for the pointer. Information from years back is scattered around various sites in bits and pieces. Thanks again for the comments.

Well, I have this issue as well. Do you have a link or answer to the issue?

Hello Milton --- answer is pretty much above, at least in a first approximation. The texture settings were the key for me. I reduced them measurably then increased them slowly until the problem returned. Give it a try. Good luck!!! :D
