• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Styles changes

I'm using Chrome and it's not showing for me. Did a while back. :scratchch
EDIT: Just tried with IE8 and Firefox - not showing in either.
 
I don't see it on Chrome or Opera. I went to another forum using XenForo and their style chooser showed up fine in Chrome.

I can see the bottom blue menu bar in IE11, but only the entries on the right end are displayed. The left end remains completely blank...
 
Using Firefox.
A couple of days ago (when Arno mentioned he was working on the style) I selected FSDeveloper from the button bottom left (had 'FSDeveloper' and 'Default').
Today, nothing there.
Same browser, same machine.
 
Not sure if this is the right thread anymore but just wanted tp point your attention to the fact that the quoted/ported over (beige underground) comments are easier to read than the new entries on a rather whitish undergound.
What I am suggesting is therefore a grey or other colored background for the replies/comments so that they are eaier to distinguish and to be read.

No, it's because I made it the default style now. There is no choice anymore.
 
Hi,

Let me check the background. It should be around the same kind of light blue we had on the old forum now, but I can always make it a bit darker if that is easier to read.
 
Sorry, but in my opinion this is hideous. I liked the simplicity of the original style so much more.

Will there be an option to choose a different skin?

What's hideous? We only tuned some colours the rest of the style is the same. So it's just as simple or complex as the default one.

The only thing I noticed at work today is that the yellow is more bright there than on my laptop when I tuned it. So I might change the yellow a bit.

We are not planning to give users multiple choices for the style.
 
It might be worth looking for something other than the yellow - perhaps a grey or blue since it is a bit in conflict with the generally cold color scheme. However it is a nice contrast so in that respect good.
 
Suggestions are always welcome :)

I like the yellow for the page buttons at the bottom and top. But indeed for the quoted text it can look a bit weird. So I could try a slightly lighter blue maybe and see how that looks.
 
My personal opinion.

The yellow was too contrasting, especially in quotes. Now it is better, if you change the quote background, it will be even better.
The original layout was using boxes for design elements, which worked well. This one uses box for quote, which is fine, but does not use anything other than a line for borders between posts. IMO this is way too subtle. Some forums use different shades for background, switching lighter/darker/lighter/darker. It makes for better readability.
The original layout had poster info on top of the post, which I liked, but this one is OK (on the side).

I also liked the index better on the old one, although the layout that is now is OK, apart from the bubbles, which seem not to fit it by coloration, especially the orange one looks just like it doesn't belong.

With original layout you mean the layout we used on the old forum software, right? And not the layout of the default style we used in the new software for the first few days.

We are still discovering the options, for example it might be possible to have the postbit at the top instead of at the site (on the old forum software that was a choice as well).

So we'll keep on tuning a bit, but I guess we can never please everybody. When we changed the style of the old forum 5 years ago or so we had similar discussions as now :D
 
The blue bordered pop up box on mouseover doesn't always show (shows less and less of it)especially moving down the list in 'new posts' It is very useful to get the contents without opening up the whole thread.

Yes, the old forum. I didn't catch the default style on new forum.

Personally I always liked the possibility to select from 2 or 3 different designs on phpBB/SMF etc. forums. However if that is not an option for whatever reason, I guess I'll just have to live with this then.

I suppose that is true. :)
 
Is there an option to have (slightly) different alternating background colours for posts.

I am pretty sure I've seen this somewhere. It did help separate things a bit, and make the forum more readable.
