• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Suggestions for Improvements to User Experience

Jon - I don't know if this is feasible idea (probably just a dumb one actually). I don't even know if it would be useful for others but how about an option to create a Jetway as you add a GATE? Kills two birds with one stone and removes the chore ;) of an additional Add plus dialog and then placement. Make it an option though as many won't require it or even some kind of key-stroke combination when adding a GATE.

Very low-priority and completely driven by selfish desire to assist me in adding GATES to a couple of very large airports (120+ GATES):rotfl:

I will add it to the list :)

Hi Jon,
First of all, thank you for such a useful program. It has already given me hours of pleasure.
Not having been using ADEX for very long (just 1 airport built to date - Ipswich), I have just one small request - a "Save" icon would be useful to me since I frequently save my attempts. This would avoid the File > Save actions. A very minor and trivial request ;).
Another suggestion - this time on the extremely detailed and well set out manual. I find with my advancing years (groan) I learn new things quicker by "doing"! I just wondered if at the end of your manual, the construction of a simple airport was 'stepped' though. Nothing elaborate (that is what the manual is for), just something to 'see' immediately and then enhance on one's own with the help of the manual. What do you and the other chaps (and chapesses) here think.
Happy landings,
Malcolm

Malcolm, this requires just one shortcut to learn: <ctrl>+S

Jon, have not browsed this forum in a while to see if this question has been answered, but I will ask it now :
Have you done anything about the new vector products placing roads and any AI automobiles in AFCAD sceneries (crossing runways, etc.) ? I believe you said you might look into solving this problem (or has it been solved by you or someone else in the scenery design field ?).

Thanks again for such a great project.

Are you referring to Freeway Traffic in FSX?

ADE will

You can add all the various size freeway textures and lanes.

You cannot add the AI type moveable vehicles on the freeways. That requires SbuilderX, FSXkml, IS3, etc.

You can delete any freeway traffic and the freeway that crosses runways like KATL, KNGU, etc.

Yes, but I can never figure out where to see a list of them... It would be SO nice to have that list inside the program. The way I would think would be logical (Help/Online Help/Mouse and Keyboard) doesn't have it, and the Commands Help choice doesn't have half of them (search for Vertex and the Add Vertex command (Ctrl-Click) is not listed). In fact, that command is not listed in the 1.55 manual either (in the Keyboard Shortcuts section).

When the 1.65 manual is released I'll just have to print out those pages and post them on my computer. :)

So tell me what is missing from Commands Help - since half of them are missing then it must be a big list. Since I went through the code itself to identify the key commands then there I must have put some in another place

I do not think I added the mouse keys yet. Plus control + Click to add a vertex is shown in real time on the tooltips as are some of the others.

Also if someone would like to update the text file with what they know to be missing then I will gladly issue it in an update.

One UI I would like changed and I believe it has already been mentioned, a simpler key command for copy and paste of vertices or position the key command to be applied with a single hand. I might be mistaken, I believe they are ctrl+shift+c and ctrl+shft+p for copy and paste. The ctrl+shft +c is manageable but the ctrl+shft+p either requires two hands, or the hands of a span that can pickup up basketball with a palm.

I don't know if ctrl+shft+v is being used for something else but that would a logical solution since ctrl+v is widely used as a paste command. The close proximity of the copy and paste would make faster aligning of vertices, with the current setup, it is inconvenient enough to prefer using mouse clicks instead.

Hi,

Sorry, it's probably not half. :)

The ones I know about that are missing from Commands Help or have problems:

Tab
D (in approach mode)
Shift End (listed but blank)
F8 (should say ProKey)
F10
K (listed but blank)
Minus and Shift Minus are both listed as "fine" (one is probably coarse)
Ctrl P
Ctrl Shift P (should say ProKey)
Q
U
Ctrl Y
Ctrl Click

Missing from 1.55 manual:

Delete
Ctrl End
Shift F1
Ctrl F1
F2
F9
Alt End
Ctrl Home
Alt Home
Ctrl I
Shift Ctrl I
Shift Minus
Ctrl Minus
O
Shift O
Shift Alt O
P
Shift Plus
Ctrl Plus
S
Shift S
T
Shift T
Ctrl Alt T
Ctrl Alt U
Z
Shift Z
Alt Z
Ctrl Click

Hope this helps,

Thanks Tom

I will update the commands help file. Helli is finalizing the manual for version 1.65 so I am sure he will look at any missing in the manual

Dave

ADE has been able to create terrain vector roads for a long time for FSX/P3D - it can't for FS9 - but that has been around for so long that perhaps you mean something else.

I mean roads that exist in UTX that encroach on ADE-generated AFCADS. They may also have traffic on them crossing runways, etc.
