• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 Sunshade

I was actually able to download some beautiful clipart of dot patterns and even reverse them and color them BUT...they are all too large and even though I have a utube how to match them andreduce them, they were still not perfect and they still did not satisfy me. I am still working on this and seems I peaked others interest for visors here. I will keep posting and trying and keeping up with this thread. Thank you for the Photoshop brush site. It's fantastic!!!

tried several patterns, still think this one is best:
green bmp and crossing hor. and vert. black lines.
size 1 px
take care with copy and paste

i use 1280x960 and so is the resolution of the sunshade/hud.
may be you made it bigger or smaller in the panel.cfg.
use only 1x1.

It looks very well, even out of the sim!

I use 1280x1024x32 resolution and my panel .cfg says

[Window22]

size_mm=669,390
window_size_ratio=1.000
file=Sun Visor.bmp
window_pos=0.100, 0.001
visible=0
ident=9292

The bmp is 669X390 pixels.

ah,

that is different.
i use it in a gauge, size 1280x960.
what you see is
1. the panel 1280x960
2. the hud 1280x960
all in 1 window

here panel.cfg:

[Window01]
BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0
size_mm=1280,960
window_size_ratio=1.00
position=0
visible=1
sizeable=1
zorder=2
ident=MINIPANEL

gauge00=787!787 landing vieuw, 0, 0
gauge01=787!787 hud, 0,-240

Well, I created a gauge to display the same bmp, called from the Main Panel. It looked the same as before unfortunately.

I spent a lot of time today trying out different patterns and different sizes of dots and couldn't get it anything to look any way as good as your HUD.

So, phjvh, I have reverted back to my Window Sun Visor. I can only hope that I won't encounter too many blinding sunny days while flying and therefore won't have to lower my curtain-like shade :)

I will just be jealous of your HUD forever...

Thanks for sharing code and bmp.

Walter

Unfortunately this HUD fix needs a very high res. Otherwise individual pixels render the image opaque
or set up moiree lines.
I tried something similar some time ago to simulate smoke in the cockpit.
I couldn't get it to look anything other than a series of dots.

One by one we fall by the wayside...maybe someone in ACES team of msfs gurus will pick up this thread and tell us the "secret code" in FS2004 preventing the shade of the 3D world properly. I get mush with my halftone screen too.
