How does the AI Planes Taxi Into Position and Hold?
Yes you guessed it right... This ATC call makes most simmers get quite excited because it is the Signal to be in Line for Takeoff.
November 2006 I bought the All New FSX and tried it out. In minutes I could see how the things had been tweaked from my Favorite FS9.
Particularly, the Command "Taxi Into Position and Hold!" I noticed that virtually any AI Aircraft or user aircraft, got this command by the TOWER, more effectively than in FS9.
As you may know, in FS9 with the factory settings this command is only granted to an aircraft Holding short of the Runway, with the other Taking off. This command is never given to an aircraft Holding short of the runway awaiting for another to Land till the landing aircraft exits the runway, which usually takes some time.
In FSX I've noticed that irrespective of whether an aircraft is landing or taking off, once the aircraft crossed a certain area of the runway while on the ground or from above while landing, the TOWER granted permission for the Holding aircraft to TAXI into Position and Hold, till the aircraft left the runway or took off, if no other aircraft was cleared and in line to land at that runway, following the one that landed or just took off.
I found this ATC logic to be incredibly realistic and perhaps imagined if I could do the same in FS9. I would love to get your inputs and perhaps work in doing so with Fs9.
Cheers,
Amit.
