• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Texture size

Currently FSDS has a texture size limit of 1024 x 1024. Can this be made larger and if so how? I would like to use 2048 x 2048 if possible.

Thanks in advance

Pete

Hi, when I work I use 512x512 because it is much easier to map. When the mapping is finished I can use 2048x20148. I can modify the 2048 texture but If I have to remap, I have to returne to a 512x512 sheet (I cannot remap with 2048x2018). Hope it is clear...

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I understand what you mean. I was trying things last night and got as far as mapping at 512x512 and then resizing to 1024x1024 and seeing no change. I then tried to go to 2048x2048 but FSDS rejected it. I did not try to use the 2048x2048 actually in FSX to see if it worked that way, but good to know it will.
Thanks again.
I was looking for a texture size limit in a .cfg file, but could find nothing.
Thanks again.

If I "resize" a 512 texture to 1024, I will see no change to.

Supposing that in my graphic software I work on a 2048 canvas. I compile a 512 texture from this canvas to work in FSDS. Doing this I know that I am losing resolution.

When the mapping is completed, I compile a 1024 or 2048 texture so the texture is more precise, more detailed.

So, for mapping only : if I begin to map an objetct in FSDS with a 512 texture then I cannot use an other resolution after.
