• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA The airports are not exacly rotating around the ARP

Even if I'm quite sure that somebody has reported this before (I did not find the thread):

When rotating an airport around the ARP it moves the same time a bit. :yikes: I did not need this function for quite a while and now it happened that I had to go the rocky trial and error way doing it quite often (likely my fault). However, this deviation required each time a second step to move the airport to the right place after doing this before already. Is this another sign for the quirks of the often discussed graphics engine?

However, I like to thank Jon for implementing the forced saving function as it is. It's working excellent and helped a lot finding probably a better basis for further changes in earlier versions. I'm pleased! :)

Jon, I think I'm going to be trapped now... :duck:
Quite simple in this case, I right clicked and selected in the context menu the related topic "Rotate Airport". Then I checked all boxes without Guides and selected the angle that I determined before with two two guidelines. That's it (yes, I have the PRO key).

EDIT: A additional topic: Markers don't rotate. Probably they are in the "no-man's land" between the airport editor and the one for approaches.

OK and the airport rotated but also moved? The airport will rotate about the mouse location which may not be completely accurate for you. What point do you want the airport to rotate around?

Actually the ARP would be a nice spot as it is well defined. However, the mouse position seems to be only fair as it gives the freedom to decide - even if it might be somehow vague. In my specific case I'd been able shifting the airport by punching in the new ARP position (or is it the mouse position again going to the given coordinates?) and then I wanted to rotate everything around the ARP. If you have charts or other sources, then you have this spot well defined, if not place-bearing might be the better way for shifting and then the rotation probably should be selectable.

Axel

Are you rotating a stock airport? I am sure you have a good reason but is the runway off that much as per the real world data.

Nope, its the one I described in my post before, UHNN. In short: after building it as usual via Google Maps, I detected during my first approach with my PMDG NGX that it is way off and even off the course. When I checked the data from Navigraph and as well from Russian charts both suggested a different position. You can see it in the pic I added in the mentioned post.

I missed that post because I read this one first. My mistake.

What caught my eye was you saying Markers do not rotate. This is true for stock airports but now that I see you made a airport then user Markers should rotate. In FS and ADE the Markers are Facility Data and not Airport Data.

There are more things that can be done with a User made airport then a stock airport. Maybe Jon can add to the list, 'if Markers are user made then move with rotate'.
