• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi Thorsten,

I have also been thinking in that direction. If we can put all the working on messages on a map that would make things a lot more clear. I'll see if there is a plugin for that available for the forum software.

As a google member, I logged in and it changed my options. However, under EDIT, it only allows me to edit the name of the map and the description.

Still can't add pins.

Right clicking now brings up another menu, once logged in, but it still has no option for pins.

STill can't figure out how to pin if not the owner... may be that we have to tell you where and you pin them.. what a pain that would be. hehe

Hi Thorsten,

I think that might work. But I would like the map to be integrated into the forum or wiki, a separate page like that is not easy. I think I saw some plugin that allows you to integrate it with the Wiki, I will give that a go when I have some more time again.

what would be helpful is having "to-do" projects, "in-progress", and "completed" projects color coded to make it easier;)

Greg,

I got it to work. On the top part of the map there are a few icons (hand, pin, line tool). Single click the pin, then move your mouse to the location and click again. You'll then get a pop-up asking for a name and description.

I just did all this as a test and then deleted the entry, so if you're logged into you account, I assume Google remembers who posted what and you can go back and edit your pin, or description (or delete it)

It IS a great idea.... I'm adding mine now. Leave it to me to be the first one that accidentally changed the name of the entire map. I fixed it though so no worries :D

Getting up to speed with FSX development - S300

I have come to peace with FSX and have updating my dev environment over the last month or so to do FSX native development. I use FSDS. My first challenge has been to standardize and automate my development environment while updating one of my older designs (almost a rebuild, but using as many old parts as possible).

Btw, FSDSxTweak might be one of the coolest endevours I have ever seen for FSDS development. I can't give the author enough kudos for the work he has done on that bit of kit.

Ensb

I'm working on Svalbard, Longyear (ENSB). A bit challenging since the Google Earth views are a few years old and the airport has undergone extensive rennovations.

ENSB Screen Shot

Still very much a work in progress - textures are still too "cartoony"

. . . and this is the actual ENSB (tried to recreate the same angles for the screen shot.

Still a lot to do. Wrestling with some effects lighting issues - this far north its night for almost half the year so getting the ramp lighting is critical - the Effects forums has been helpful.
